I Need Some Privacy

It's time for curtains in my kitchen.

At night it's like being on stage, larger then life, with spotlights on you.
I don't know about you, but I want some privacy when I am making my tacos.

I am thinking about this fabric from China Seas that Robin Stanfield found for me.

My only hesitation is that the background is oatmeal and my kitchen is white. White - White.
Does it bother you?

I think I am OK with it not being perfectly matchy matchy.

roman shades in the kitchen, awesome pattern mixing and lovely colors

And I am probably going with a Roman shade.

no sew roman blind....love the baby room too!!

It is nice and crisp and I can raise and lower it depending on how much privacy I need.

WE love the neutral gray and whites with the splash of yellow. Ikat pattern Roman shade. Design: Lindsey Coral Harper. Photo: Ngoc Minh Ngo. housebeautiful.com. #kitchen #gray #ikat #roman_shade #yellow_accents

Pretty good looking, right?

Please vote yea or nay so I can bite the bullet and move on to the next gut wrenching decision involving my home decor.

(P.S. I would mount it at the ceiling)

Monkey See - Monkey Want

Hey! Do anything fun last night? Me neither. I did happen to see about 5 minutes of Two Broke Girls and something big and flashy caught my eye...

No, no, not the necklace, the ring...

Let's zoom in...better...

There you go. Isn't it great!!??
I have been looking for a big honking ring for ages!! And this big hunk of silver makes me happy... I would wear it with a white peasant blouse or tunic, cool leather sandals and old jeans, a little suntan...happy all over.
Have you seen anything like it?

Time for Mickey

So, it is time to take that little one to Disney World.
I have fought it long enough. Almost every day he asks if I have bought tickets yet and if today is a good day to go to Disney World. I am going to suck it up, put on my big girl pants and take him, damn it!!

Here's where you come in...
Any great ideas or suggestions to make my life easier? I have already checked the crowd calendar and have found a good week to go - meaning less crowds so mom will be less cranky.

This is the only picture I have on the computer from when we took Cricket and Clay, it was before the time of digital cameras. Or at least before I had  one.
Weren't they so cute??!!

Have you been recently? Where did you stay? We have always stayed on site as we think the Monorail is half the fun, but I am open to other options.
Did you buy the meal plan? Did you ever cry and want to come home?
Help a girl out!!
Thanks!!

Bits and Pieces - Hair and Chairs

My chairs are home safe and sound and looking damn good!!

Found a box in my closet and when I opened it, look what I found - Christmas ornaments. I ordered 6 of these before Christmas and loved them so much I ordered 6 more. They had barely arrived before I stuffed them in a closet and totally forgot about them. Aren't they fat and happy? I found them at luna bazaar

Several of you have asked for pictures of my new haircut and my tulle skirt. I just don't like pictures of myself but during the height of our romantic evening while I was getting ready to clean up the dog's throw up (my life is very glamorous) Bill took this...

It has been over 3 weeks since I got my hair cut and it has already grown a ton, plus you can't really tell much about the cut itself. I should have styled it a little. It is shorter and choppier in person, at least that's the way I see it, so that's what I am going with. And when I wear this skirt out I will be sure to wear a slip.

Happy Weekend!!

Tulle for Ten

I love the look of a tulle skirt. And this is exactly the way I would wear it.

Denim shirt & tulle skirt

Or maybe with a denim shirt

IMG_1342

It just looks so cute with everything.

I saw one I really liked at Anthropologie, but they didn't have my size and it was almost $200.

So I did what all good shoppers do and got on Ebay. 10 days later the perfect tulle skirt showed up all the way from China. Price? $10. Yes, $10 and it's at least $50 worth of cute. It is not as full as the one above, but it is still super cute. I couldn't get a good picture, so you are just going to have to trust me.

I may wear it today to celebrate Valentine's Day. Do you think I will be too dressed up to grocery shop and cook burgers for my family?

Happy Valentine's Day!!

I'm Not Your Grandmother But...

I have been looking for a good shower cap...

ivylicious.jpg

Pretty cute right? Check out all the fun designs here
Now I have to decide what size I am, bouffant or classic.

And no I am not 80, but since I got my new shorter haircut, I have been using a shower cap that I got in a hotel bathroom kit. It is time to step it up. I have also been using...

Can you tell what it is?
Dry Shampoo. Have y'all used this stuff? It really works!!
Pretty soon I will be going to the beauty parlor to have my hair washed and set once a week.

Anyone else use these? Shower cap or dry shampoo?

Varsity Blues

Loving the varsity jacket trend.

I love how you can dress it up or down...

aurora-sansone

Spring or winter.

Varsity Jackets

And it looks good on everybody.

I saw this picture on Le Catch yesterday and it reminded of something...something I had seen in my attic. Off I went and after a little searching in dirty gym bags I found....

Not one but two varsity jackets and a letter sweater!!! This one was my favorite. It's my husband's from his baseball playing days in college.

I am taking it to the dry cleaners today!! So excited that I now have my very own, somewhat vintage, varsity jacket!! I'm thinking striped tee and baggy jeans. Or maybe a cream tulle skirt for dinner out...

Do you like it or think it is too Happy Days?

Did You Know

I got a Furbish python tray for my birthday? It looks great in my bar. Lots of joy!!!
Thanks Betsy and Tracy!!

I have a disco ball in my closet...
I like a little bit of sparkle in unexpected places.

And I secretly like Katy Perry...
But don't tell my kids. They already think I am hideously uncool.
(Apparently singing along to songs while driving carpool is SO embarrassing)
One of my favorites here

Anything you want to share???

The Chairs - Decision Made, Money Paid

So after my post last Monday I was all set to order the french chairs for my dining room.

Then I got an e-mail and saw these chairs from Melissa at Vintage Stuff. Pretty cool right? Check out her site here.
Now I was a little confused....

But still thought I might go traditional...

Right before I ordered them my sister Betsy sent me pictures of the world's greatest chairs that she and Julie had seen while shopping at Slate in Charlotte. Get ready...

Could you die? Just curl up in a corner and die happy?
I know, not the world's best picture, but since I am relying on the kindness of  my sister I don't dare complain. And still, you can tell how fab they are, right?

All chrome-ish or is it brass? I think they said chrome. And velvet...yes, velvet. I would love to say I bought them as soon as I saw the pictures, but they were a little $$$ to buy site unseen, so I did the only thing I knew to do - sent my sweet friend Michele Jones over to Slate to test them out. She touched them, measured them and sat in them. After Betsy, Julie and Michele's approval I snapped them up. Now I am waiting for Bill to go to Charlotte this week on business and bring my babies home.

And this my friends is why it pays to procrastinate.
Good things come to those who hem and haw and can't make a decision.

Needing...

A scarf from Rikshaw Designs Spring Collection.
I love my Rikshaw tunic and tuxedo kurta and would love to get my hands on one of the new scarves...can't wait for the spring line to launch!! I hope it comes in blue or green!!

Love this chair I got several years ago in a barn outside of town. He has been happily living in Clay's room, but now I would love to spiff him up and put him in my living room. Problem? I need his mate. He is tired of being single. When you get a minute, check your attic, your grandmother's attic and your great aunt's garage. If you find one let me know, I would love to take it off your hands for a little $$$.

The Last Runaway

I also need a good book to read. Thinking about downloading this one. Has anyone read it? Or do you have a better idea? Let me know!!

Thanks!!
Sissy
