The Big Apple

52310_a_1.jpg

A you read this I am in New York hopefully trying on this top from Roberta Freyman

But more than likely...

I am probably riding the Ferris wheel in Toys R Us
or...

Watching my kids stuff their faces at Dylan's Candy Bar.

I had a long talk with myself before we left about how this trip is for the kids and is not a extended shopping trip for mama...

But I hope they throw me a bone and let me do a little shopping...After all there is a 9,000 square foot Anthropologie store in the city.
Can you imagine the joy that would bring me?
Say a little shopping prayer for me!!

People Watching

Can't wait to people watch in the Big Apple...
So hoping to see some famous fashionistas...

The Man Repeller - Leandra Medine
Leandra, may I borrow your coat while I am in NY?
It is exactly what I have been looking for!! I am staying at the Barclay International if you want to drop it at the front desk. Thanks!!

Sarah Jessica Parker...love her!

 Mary Kate and/or Ashley Olsen

And the crazier the outfit the better!!
I didn't come all the way from North Carolina to see tasteful, understated dressing. I can see that at home. I need some inspiration, some risk taking...
Hopefully I'll get some pictures to share.
See you soon!!

Going Once, Going Twice

Do you buy a lot of jewelry? I don't. But when I do (or Bill does) it is usually something I LOVE and wear all the time. Like my vintage squash blossom necklace. From weddings to Walmart, I really do wear it all the time.

Perfect for Christmas dinner...

Or a visit with family. Those who know me well will recognize Crazy Bama.
Yes, she is alive and kicking.

Every time I wear it someone always ask where I got it...

Well now you can have one too.
Yep, Big South Auction has a fabulous Squash Blossom necklace in their auction this Sunday.
It's a little different than mine, which is good. We don't want to look exactly alike. (Do I see some shells?)
Info here
When you call or stop by, tell John that Sissy sent you.
I hope someone cute and stylish gets this necklace, someone who will provide a happy home and fabulous outfits.
Good luck!!

P.S. I have heard from a lot of readers that they are unable to leave comments. Let me know if you are having trouble as well, I am trying to figure out what the heck is going on!!

New York Planning...

Busy packing/planning our trip to New York.
I don't want to look like country come to town.
I think I will be OK until I open my mouth. "Hi y'all" doesn't sound very New Yorkish, does it?

I <3 when I see an outfit on Pinterest and realize I already have all the pieces for it at home. Army jacket, check. Skinnies, check. Leopard print booties, check. Cognac leather bag, check.

I am going to depend on my army jacket, black skinny pants and my favorite booties.

It's a good look.

crisp white shirt, army jacket, black.

And I can layer up if it is cold.

There they are...the perfect booties.
Day one down, 3 more to go.

Chic Sneaks

I told you we were taking Locke to Disney, but we are also taking the twins to NY. We haven't been on a trip in years and now it is one trip after another...crazy!!

Now that everything is booked, it is time for more important decisions..like what am I going to wear. I want to be comfortable and cute. Because really, if you don't feel cute, can you truly have any fun?

I am thinking about joining the hipster sneaker trend.

All the cool kids are doing it...

Even my style hero.

Considering this pair...men's but cute right??!!
White jeans, striped t, fabulous necklace...
Comfortable and cute. Let the site seeing begin!!

You for it or against it?

The View, Me and Ali

So, you know, Joy Behar is leaving The View and they need a replacement. I have two candidates...me, yes me. What? I could so handle it. I am all about some celebrity gossip, sharing my opinions, cooking and politics. OK maybe not so much on the cooking and my politics may be a little lacking, but I've got the talking down!!
So Barbara, if you are reading this, feel free to contact me.

On the off chance they want someone with, I don't know, experience??!! What about Ali Wentworth?

So love this girl. Isn't she fabulous??!! And so fun. I know we would be great friends. Unless she stole my job, then I would just have to watch her from afar....like I do know.

She also has great style, her homes have been in all the mags and she is married to George Stephanopoulos. What more could you want?

And she has a hilarious new book out. I have this if anyone wants to borrow it. Let me know and I'll leave it on the front porch for you.

Now what? I am more the idea person, so if y'all could take the ball and run with it, that would be great!! If I do end up on The View I won't forget you!!

Eye Spy

While drooling over the pictures of Jamie's new store what did I spy but...

My wallpaper!!
Remember this post?
I use the term "my" very loosely since I haven't actually ordered it.
But I have committed to it in my mind..isn't that enough?

Want to see more pictures of Furbish... check them out here
Might be time for a girls road trip to Raleigh to see the goods for ourselves...anyone interested?

Furry Spring

I know it is almost spring but I want...

A faux fur coat.

I think it would be great with jeans and a tee for spring.
Cute and a little unexpected.

How great is this one??!!

Mrs. Green Jeans

So...while picking up some new jeans for Clay, I saw these green cords at Old Navy...

Love the color and they were only $8.
I have socks that cost more than $8.

Hurry over and get you a pair...I think they will be super cute through the spring.

I am going to wear them with one of these striped tops....

Green cords and stripes will make me extra happy.

(Look for them in the clearance section...and FYI, I had to size up to get them over my calves. I like a little breathing room in my pants, otherwise they were like leggings and green leggings only work for elves)

House Love

So as promised here are the rest of the pictures from the red bedroom house. I don't usually post pictures of houses that you can see for yourself on the internet...what's the fun in that? But there is just something really cool about this one. Stylish but homey. Of course, the homeowner and decorator lives in London. Don't all the cool people live in London?

I love everything about this room..including the color.

And the artwork is amazing.

I ordered something from this room, can't wait to show you.

More of that pesky red. You stay in the red guest room and I'll stay in the blue/green guest room. Happy?

Mixed feelings here. Thoughts?

And the master bedroom again. I found a better picture so I thought I would re-post.

Do you love it too? Can you guess what I ordered?

Letter People

Every week at preschool Locke's class makes a new letter person.
Not only is he learning his letters, he is also making really cute art.
I've been stacking the letter people in his closet until I could decide what to do with them.

Ten Creative Ways to Display Children’s Art « Spearmint Baby. Look at that awesome little art table with a spot for hanging a roll of paper! And the chairs!! I want!

Then I found some inspiration...

I decided to cover a wall with letter people

I removed a few pieces of art that were hanging on the wall and got to work.
Some letters, just like us, are more wrinkled than others.

Sadly, as you can see here, we are missing Mr F. Maybe he flew away with five of his funny friends. I am going to try to recreate the missing letter.
(Anyone in Locke's class want to send me a picture of Mr. F?)

We left space for the remaining letters on the bottom row, but so far I am very happy with the way it is turning out and Locke loves it!!
(I hope and pray I didn't leave too much room at the bottom, if Bill has to redo the whole wall he is going to be a little grumpy. Sure I help, I am in charge of putting the tape on, but he has the ruler and the level and all that stuff)

Free art, what could be better?

Red is Not for Everyone

(I have been trying to post for days and dang Blogger is giving me all kinds of trouble!!
Sorry for absence)

This picture is from one of my favorite homes. I love everything about it..except the red. Switch the red to blue and I am good to go. I am just not a red girl. Once I even got into an argument with Locke at Walmart over a red pool-noodle. I wanted  him to get blue. It's OK, a lot of people fight at Walmart. In the end I did let him get the red noodle, but I refused to play with it.

More pictures of this fabulous home tomorrow.
Are you on the red team or blue team?
