Big Baggy Boyfriend

Is there anything better than ripped, torn denim?

Boyfriend Shorts Gladiator Sandals

boyfriend short // jewellery

I do love me some boyfriend shorts. Whether it is my cut off pair of Levi's from college or a newer distressed pair they all make me happy. (And for those of you thinking "Isn't she too old for boyfriend shorts?" I can't hear you!)

Worn-out ripped jeans can be expensive All the cool kids wear Rag and Bone but at over $200 you may be cool but broke. Madewell has a great pair. for under $80. Still not sure about this look? The above pair of shorts is from American Eagle and right now they are $9.99. Yep, right here and  here
Online they are not showing up as $9.99 but I am sitting here in my new pair that I bought yesterday. Maybe it is in store only, check the sale rack.
Are you tempted?

Did your mom ever buy you clothes that were way too big hoping you would grow into them?

My fiddle leaf fig knows how you feel.

In the meantime he is using a booster seat.

Little Shop of Horrors and a Little Shopping

What would happen if you planted Carolina Jasmine by your front entry and then let it grow wild for four years?
No cutting, trimming or pruning allowed.

Here's your answer.
Help! I can't get to my front door!!
Would you be scared to come in?
It's grown so much you can't even see the planters on my front porch!

I know it needs to be trimmed but for some reason I love the crazy, cozy look of it. And it smells great!!
(Maybe I should at least trim the piece that is traveling upstairs and about to enter Clay's room)

In other news it is time for a Coop Night!!
5 - 8
1930 Oleander Drive
Ann and Hooper have lots of good stuff....

Did you see that coffee table?
Good right?
Hope to see you there!!

Childhood Memory Help

I need your help.
There was a book I loved as a child about a boy who bought a strip of candy buttons.

When eaten the magic candy buttons turned him into a cowboy, a thief/robber or an Indian Chief. Doctor, lawyer, Indian chief?
I can not remember the book and it is driving me crazy. I have looked online and can't find anything.

Have any idea which children's book I am talking about?
If so give me a holler, leave a comment or e-mail me: siskotte@ec.rr.com.
We will get back to regular programming tomorrow.
Thanks!

A New Addition

You know that saying
 "Buy new friends
But wear the old...
One is silver and the other's gold"
Well, that is so true except in this case they're both blue...

I am wearing old faithful - my Rikshaw Tuxedo Shirt
and my new tassel necklace.
They play nicely together.

I found my necklace on Etsy: Here

Banking Mother's Day

I'm a little funny about gift giving - or gift getting. For most holidays I like to bank my gifts. That means I pick out something small or nothing at all and bank the rest, basically saving up for future purchases. Then when I see something really special I can get it. Takes a lot of pressure off Bill, forces the kids to make me something, which is what I really want, and when I do find something special I can get it without guilt...everybody's happy. I banked my Mother's Day gift this year and for something small Bill bought me a book I have been dying to read...

A Well Tempered Heart by Jan-Philipp Senker
It's the sequel to one of my favorite books The Art of Hearing Heartbeats.
Locke made me a key chain and Cricket wrote me a great poem but she has refused to let me share it - it's is a description of me and she hit the nail on the head. And I feel sure Clay is in his room right now making me a special gift!!

And then my center piece for lunch - flowers from a sweet boy!!
Guess what is most interesting about this little arrangement?
It makes me want to add a little pink to my house..yes, I said it, pink!
I just love it with the blue and the flowers really brightened everything up. Now I am not going to go crazy but I may look for a pillow or a small painting or who knows what. I'll let you know what I come up with.

Hope you had a great weekend and Mother's Day!

Vintage Inspired Custom Wallpaper

Have you been to the Designer Show House
It's good, really good.
Loved it! In fact I loved it so much I was too busy gawking and didn't take any pictures. Thankfully Ann and Hooper took some of their amazing foyer...

If you click you can enlarge the photos to get a better look. You have got to check out the wallpaper. They designed it themselves using a piece of vintage wallpaper they found in a junk shop as inspiration.

They based the wallpaper color on the original trim color in the house.

You can get a better look at the paper here. Pretty great right?
Port City Signs and Graphics did the printing and the best part?
You too can have your very own custom designed wallpaper. Just call Ann and Hooper. I've already contacted them about a little project and if all goes well I will share soon!!

Life According to My Phone

Get ready, here comes a whole lot of random...

Fun, new beach towels I picked up at HomeGoods. They also came with a cute pink band and even though it was pink they were so cute I considering getting them too but my boys are pinkaphobic.

Loving my newish Free People necklace.

And finally a Spring Break picture..and it is extra rare because it is Bill and I together, that NEVER happens.

And here we are at the top of the Bald Head Island Lighthouse...Old Baldy.
This picture cracks me up because...well, look at Cricket and Clay. This proves the theory that girls grow faster/sooner than boys. She looks like she could eat him for lunch!! Did I mention they are twins!!?? Part of the problem is that she is standing forward, closer to the camera but still!! Maybe he is sitting down, or squatting...

OK, enough random for one day!!
Have a great weekend!!

Beach House Part II

More fun in the sun!!

Ground Level Game Room

Ground Level King Master Suite

South Queen Bedroom

North Queen Bedroom

Oceanside Screened Porch

I think what I love most about this cottage is that Betsy and Frank left the pine paneling and all the character of an old house, but gave it a fresh modern feel. I was lucky enough to go shopping with Betsy on several occasions for the house and the deals we found were amazing. To see it all come together is so rewarding and just plain fun.
If you want to see more photos or rent this fabulous cottage you can get more info here.
After looking at these pictures are you thinking what I'm thinking? Yep, I need one too! To contribute to my beach house fund you can contact me at siskotte@ec.rr.com. All donations, while greatly appreciated, are NOT tax deductible, but you will be invited to my house warming party and one overnight stay.

Beach House

I thought about calling this post "Need vs Want Round Two"
Cause I don't NEED a beach house but I really WANT a beach house. Especially after spending a fun filled night at my friend's Betsy von B's (and Frank's) new beach front home.

Street Side

The door!! OMG the door makes me happy!!

And then the view...
OK, I am not going to ramble on, I am going to let the pictures do the talking...

It's like Disney World for adults - the happiest place on the beach.
The best part was that the house was a total reno and I got to watch the process from start to finish.
The good news? There's more but I am saving some until tomorrow. You know I am just getting back into blogging and don't want to over do it..baby steps.
Can I just mention that the built-in banquette is upholstered in faux ostrich?

Bedrooms and more tomorrow...
Do you love it or what?
