A Brass Project

Thanks to T.V. and Pop-Tarts I had 45 minutes to run to my favorite shopping spots this morning. Bill said "Do not buy more more project!" Well, I didn't buy one more project, I bought three. I can't show you the faux bamboo desk and chair because they are hanging out of the back of my car. I am not as strong as I thought I was. But I can show you the one I did wrestle out of the car...see if you think it was worth it...

A big brass console table with mirrored side panels.

Right now it has a cork top but I am thinking more mirror. Plus I need to sand it down and maybe spray it with brass spray paint. Has anybody used that before? Did it work? And don't you think I did the right thing bringing this baby home? I am sure Bill would have been so upset if I didn't get it. Right?

PS To ekgm, there wasn't an e-mail address attached to your comment so I couldn't e-mail you back. But I did want to let you know my booth is located at: The Eclectic
617 Castle Street
Wilmington, NC 28401

Near downtown Wilmington, and a few doors down from Jester's Cafe. Stop by if you get a chance. Tell Randy I sent you! Thanks! Sissy

Mary Mac's Office

Are you watching Million Dollar Decorator's? Don't you love it?
They are crazy. Some are crazy good some are just plain crazy.

Mary McDonald is crazy good. Remember her office from Domino?

I think this is a more recent photo with a few design changes. That fabulous desk is the same and it looks like my little project...

Help me. I am dark and shabby and need some love....

Much better!!! I should have moved it into some grass before taking a photo but Bill frowns on me painting in the grass so he always forces me to work in the abandoned area of our yard. Still, I am so excited about how this table/desk turned out. After a lot of soul searching and prayer I took her to the booth today. Whoever buys her better style her up good and give her the glamorous life she deserves. What do you think? Doesn't she look better?

I'm Alive

Just a few random pictures....

Of things that I love.

Been busy and didn't want you to think I had forgotten about you.
I had family visiting for the past 5 days and with 3 sisters, 1 brother and 9 nieces and nephews it was fun but crazy.
This is what our days were like:
Boat, beach, eat, beach, eat, visit crazy Bama, get attacked by even crazier lady at nursing home, eat, bed. Repeat for 5 days.
I need to take to my bed.

Have a great weekend!! Sissy

The Bracelets Are Back

They're back!! Friendship bracelets.

And I am loving them.

Especially when you have an arm full.

All the colors make me happy.

I recently got some for the girls at Cricket's B'day party and had to have one for myself. I wear it with a bunch of silver bracelets but I think I need a few more. What about you? Loving or leaving it?

I'm Fretful

See a pattern?

All these pictures have one thing in common.

A fabulous fretwork table.

I have been working on my own little project that was supposed to go in the booth.

It's looking so good I don't know if I am going to be able to part with it.
We are doing a total booth makeover this week and this table/glamour desk was going to be the center piece. But who deserves a glamour desk more than me?

Dear God, if you really want me to part with this oh so fabulous work of art, give me a sign. Otherwise I'm keeping it!!
xo Sissy
P.S. And yes, I missed church yesterday because I was at Lowes buying white high gloss lacquer paint for the table. I did send Bill and Cricket, does that count?

Summer Rules

Tomorrow is the last day of school and the official start of summer for me. I am a little scared. Excited but scared. Scared of my kids and excited because I get to implement my summer rules. Thought they might be helpful to you as well.

1. A swim in the pool counts as a bath.

2. A swim in the ocean does not. Unless you rinse off with a hose afterwards.

3. Soap and shampoo are optional.

4. Cheese sticks count as a balanced meal if fried and dipped in marinara sauce and followed by a grape Popsicle.

5. Never serve your kids chilled juice boxes. If you do they will always want them chilled. My kids think juice boxes are supposed to be served at room temperature.

6. If you are 3 or under, underwear is an acceptable outfit.

7. Ring pops are an acceptable form of bribery.

8. Naps are mandatory. For me, not the kids.

There you have it, rules to get you through the summer with your sanity. What about you? Any helpful hints you want to share?

Big Ball of Wood

Yesterday while blog hopping I came across this image on VT Interiors. I love that big ball of driftwood!! It made me wish I had one...oh, wait a minute, what's that in my entrance hall...

Yep, my very own big ball of driftwood. In case you want one too, and who doesn't? I got it at HomeGoods 3 weeks ago. They had two. I should have bought them both. The lesson here? When in doubt, buy two.

I love books...

Especially interior design books.

I love to read them...

Look at the pictures...

And collect them...

And I love to stack them.

I recently recovered this chair seat, deciding not to paint the chair. I like it's aged finished. Then I needed a small side table so I used what I had, books. And I love how it looks. But now I need more books!!
Help! What are your all time favorite design books?

Black or White

I picked this little rattan ottoman up at a flea market a while back.
Isn't he cute?

Then I started seeing them everywhere.

Most are the original Franco Albini ottomans.
Mine is a knock off, but I only paid $1, so I can live with it.

I've seen the originals for sale for as high as $950 - no, that is not a joke- or as low as $125 on Etsy. And I've read lots of great stories of people finding the originals for a few bucks at thrift stores.

Pier 1 even did a knock off for $95. So here's my question: My ottoman was black to start with, but needed a fresh coat of paint. I decided to spray it white, but that thing is a b#*@% to paint.

You can see that I have brought it back inside to regroup and rethink my decision. So, what would you do? Go back to black or suck it up and finish with the white?

Beth, I know I said you could buy my ottoman but I may have to keep him. I have gotten awfully attached. Maybe we could share custody.

Do you feel neglected?

I know my blog does. Why is May so crazy? I have been a busy bee finishing up some projects...

Do you recognize the mirror? Remember this post?

It has finally found it's place and I couldn't be happier.

Does it make you happy too?
