Most are the original Franco Albini ottomans.
Mine is a knock off, but I only paid $1, so I can live with it.

I've seen the originals for sale for as high as $950 - no, that is not a joke- or as low as $125 on Etsy. And I've read lots of great stories of people finding the originals for a few bucks at thrift stores.
Pier 1 even did a knock off for $95. So here's my question: My ottoman was black to start with, but needed a fresh coat of paint. I decided to spray it white, but that thing is a b#*@% to paint.
You can see that I have brought it back inside to regroup and rethink my decision. So, what would you do? Go back to black or suck it up and finish with the white?
Beth, I know I said you could buy my ottoman but I may have to keep him. I have gotten awfully attached. Maybe we could share custody.

hm. I sort of like white. sorry.
ReplyDeleteWhite , it will be worth it :)
ReplyDeleteI think white would look best in your house, but I know what you mean about being a !#*& to paint. It looks almost gray now (like that kubu wicker) and kind of cool and muted if you wanted to leave it as. But I vote for white if you're going to continue painting. And I spy your brown chair in the background - love it!
ReplyDeleteOooh, I love this! I would have to say white too! It will definitely be worth it!
ReplyDeletejust spray paint white. if you don't like it in a month. then spray paint it black
ReplyDeleteCall me crazy, but I would spray it some awesome color-- orange? Turquoise? You can get that fancy spray paint at an art supply that comes in col colors. Failing that, I would go white, or maybe gray?
ReplyDeleteI think shiny black would be awesome. Every room needs a touch of black, doesn't it?
ReplyDeleteOh! I liked it the way it is - sort of driftwood in color ... but I agree with Melissa - orange or turquoise would be amazing!
ReplyDeleteblack would be perfect..xx meenal
ReplyDeleteWhite! :)
ReplyDeletewhite.
ReplyDeleteI vote for white too! Shiny would be great!
ReplyDeleteI also vote white! I love it.
ReplyDeleteWhile I was reading your post, I was thinking black, but when I saw the last picture (inside your home), I definitely thought white! Good luck!!
ReplyDeleteI say, it's too much trouble to paint. Just forget it...you should just set it by your curb (say... tomorrow 7ish?) and let the trashman come and get it. Blow it off, waaay to much of a pain!...-Ann
ReplyDeleteWhite...take it to a cabinet painter and let him spray it. easy button.
ReplyDeleteFantastic purchase! I say go for white. I'm with those who suggested spray paint - it's so much easier.
ReplyDeleteONE DOLLAR! You are awesome! IIIIII think he should be a bright fun color, something funky. or white. not black.
ReplyDeleteIngrid :)
I vote white! it actually looks kind of cool the greyish color that it is now, but maybe that's just in the picture. (a fun pop of color like turquoise or yellow would be sweet too,but maybe not the style you're going for)
ReplyDeleteOne dollar! That is so crazy, you rock! and white!
ReplyDeleteI saw a glossy black...but I think I'm in the minority!
ReplyDeleteThat must be white another vote for white! Love the clean shade and the cute design incorporate with that glass top. Wonderful! :-) buy aion accounts
ReplyDeleteWhite!!! I had one like that and painted it white and put it outside...it rotted. Don't do that.
ReplyDeleteShiny black - the white is too "Golden Girls".
ReplyDeleteGreat find! I'd go black! (or white!) :-)
