Christmas Card Wreath

What do you do with your Christmas cards? Throw them in a bowl like I used to do? A few years ago I came up with an easy DIY to display and enjoy my Christmas cards.

A cork wreath.
So simple and easy. Well, easy for Bill. He cut the shape out of some wood and then I glued down cork and added a bow. Done.

(I still need to take down my artwork and hang it up)

I know it is not all that pretty right now, but slap a few cards up there and it is happy holiday time. Maybe I should paint it green...
And what do I see in that cute little bowl...

They're back!! Hershey Candy Cane Kisses.
That's how I know it is Christmas. A sugar headache is a sure sign of the holidays.

So how do you display your holiday cards?
Should I paint my wreath green?
Wouldn't it look better with blue zebra wallpaper?

Turquoise Christmas

pic here
A little over the top maybe, but I still love this happy room.

It reminds me of these two new rolls of wrapping paper. Picked them up while shopping for Lighting McQueen, so my trip to Party City wasn't totally without style. Wouldn't it be fun to have a turquoise and lime Christmas? Or are you a totally traditional girl?

A Girl Can Dream

I think Bill is getting ready to buy me my dream house. I can just feel it. Want proof? Last night when he was returning some e-mails I asked him if he was going to put in an offer and he said "Sure hon, whatever you say". Doesn't that sound like a definite yes?

With that settled I need to come up with paint colors, fabric choices, furniture plans. I mean this could happen any time between now and November 2025. A girl needs to be prepared, right?

For the dining room, I am thinking something like this from the latest Southern Living. I love just about everything about it. I would swap out the green velvet for blue and I would be good to go. And add some chairs and a bigger table, but other than that...perfect!!

That wallpaper just kills me. Love it!!! I might actually have people over for dinner if my dining room looked like this.
Thanksgiving at my house next year, want to come?

This makes me happy

So does this. You would think with my big ole head of crazy hair I could achieve this look... Trust me, it's not as easy as it looks.

Grumpy Bear

I'm having a hard time with the end of daylight savings time.

When it gets cold and dark I turn into a bear.

I start bulking up for the winter and getting in my cave (bed) earlier and earlier.

I need some color and pattern to wake me up.

Maybe even some pattern on pattern.

Ahh..isn't that much better?
Because really, bulking up isn't a good look for me.

Ready for Monday?

Sundays are busy around here.

1. Cleaning house.
Yes, it only stays clean until Monday morning, but I enjoy it while I can.

2. Doing laundry.
stacks of uniforms clean and ready to go.

Image
3. Stocking the pantry.
Just saying that cracks me up because my "pantry" is a cabinet over the microwave. So sad. Anyway...I plan out a weeks worth of meals and do one big shopping trip over the weekend. This includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I'm not usually such an organizational nerd,
but it sure makes the week nights a lot easier.

What about you? How do you prepare for the week?

Turkish Update

Update
I had several people e-mail questions about this picture.
1. Yes, it is my house.
2. The table is two Lack side tables pushed together
3. The Ghost chair is Locke's mini (Lou Lou) one

A few weeks ago I got a little treat in the mail...Turkish-T towels (Thank you Sue!!). After using them for several weeks I have to say I am hooked. They are fabulous!! Cotton, colorful and useful-what more could you want.

Just look at this Beach Candy Basic.
I am loving this in the blueberry...Happy, happy, Happy

I got the Basic Bath Towel, but have yet to use it for its intended purpose. Instead it has been a sarong, a beach blanket, even a scarf. I have to say the turquoise looks great with a white t and black pants.

Speak of the devil, here it is as a tablecloth. Soup night in front of the fire. My kids think it is a huge treat to eat dinner sitting on the floor in front of a fire. And it is kind of fun until you try to stand up. Don't you think my Turkish-T towel makes the best tablecloth? It gives my very traditional living room a much needed ethnic touch.

Make sure to stop by Turkish-T and get yourself a little treat!

Nata

Locke turns four on Saturday. I know, I can't believe it either.
The one thing he wants the most for his birthday is a nata.
He talked about it for days and I could not figure out what he was talking about. Until he said "you know mom, you hit it with a stick and prizes come out." Oh, a pinata. Well, that is right up my alley. I would love to whip up a pinata for my baby boy. I had something like this in my mind...

Oh Happy Day

Mini pinatas!! Can you say party favor?

Martha Stewart
These are really just paper lanterns but I could so turn them into pinatas

Blues and greens - does it get any better?

Pinatas have come along way and you know I love a good craft. Sadly Locke and I have different ideas...does he want a beautiful hand made pinata? That would be a no. He wants...

Lightning McQueen.
So, I am going to buy him one. Even if it is red and made in China.
It is his day after all, right?

Happy Package

Look what I got in the mail...so cute.
I almost didn't want to open my festive little package.

Girl's got style.
And inside...

The belt I ordered from Novica. I love it!!
It is even better than expected!!!

And it looks fabulous with my Poet dress.
Did you order one? If not your procrastination has paid off, the dress has been reduced again! I know, it is practically free. Here.

And you can get a belt here.
Can't wait to wear it with denim and khakis and just about anything.
Thank you Novica!!!

Update on Cowgirl Dorothy

My readers are the best!! You not only found my boots, you found me several DIY's.

Still loving them, but not loving the price. Not even close!!

Several smart bloggers also love the glitter bootie and made their own.

They both used a boot from Old Navy that is now on sale for $24. I'm tempted are you?

Cowgirl Dorothy

What if Dorothy were from Texas, not Kansas? What if she didn't even like red?

Yep, Texas Dorothy would be kicking witch butt in these fab booties; I just know it. And I want some too!!! Got the pic from Rikshaw, but if anyone knows where I can get me some of these, speak up!
Thanks!
Sissy

Southern Mermaid & The World's Happiest Boy

A friend and local blogger Shannon, from I Love Your Crazy, alerted me to a new furniture line, The Southern Mermaid, and their launch party this Saturday November 5th at Satellite.

It looks interesting.

Food, games, retro cocktails...

And great design. What could be better?

Love, love, love this bed!!
If you get a chance stop by and check it out.

And now for the world's happiest boy...

Who knew a plastic pumpkin full of candy could bring so much joy?

And this is the world's bluest girl. Cricket Halloween 2011. I might wear this next year and go as Smurfette. Clay wouldn't let me take his picture.

All in all it was a good night, a really good night.
Hope your's was too.

And don't forget the Bazaar!!

The Bazaar is Open

You know what I have learned about myself? I am an idea girl. New ideas every fifteen minutes-no problem. Follow through? Not so much. I have been so excited about Blue Hydrangea Bazaar, but it wasn't until late Friday night that I realized I actually had to create a new blog. Start from scratch...what was I thinking? I almost freaked out. But yesterday I got to work...I thought about putting on one of Clay's ADHD patches...but I didn't, yet. And I got almost everything done.

I have listed a few of my favorite things for sale. Think of Blue Hydrangea Bazaar as the chicken coop of online stores. It's not fancy, but it's fun. Go check it out here; feel free to buy as much as you like. There's more good stuff to come. And be sure to let me know what you think!!
