I know we discussed whether or not I should cut Butterball's hair and the vast majority said no. I agreed.
Last weekend off we went. Look how happy he is in his little airplane.
After 3 months of running, biking and swimming until I wanted to scream, the big day finally came. This past Saturday I felt every one of my 45 years. The good news, I finished. The bad news, everyone and their grandmother seemed to pass me. And there may have been some bad language involved during the run. I also want to apologize to anyone who may have seen me during the second half of the run: I had to roll up my tank top and let my white flabby stomach get some air. No one should have to see that, but desperate times call for desperate measures. At least I had the sense of mind to roll it back down before the finish line.
I wasn't trying to break any records which was a good thing since my time was not great. I knew I was in trouble when I lined up on the beach with the other swimmers in my age group and realized I was the only one not in an official Speedo swimsuit. I stood out in my black tankini and polka dot bottoms. Shouldn't I get points for individuality? Anyone can be firm, fit and tan in a blue Speedo; so predictable. I am glad I completed the race, no walking, no crying, some cussing, but I don't care to repeat this experience...ever.
Well, not only have I not been to a show, I haven't even been able to watch an episode. Seems like Wilmington is the only city in the world that chose not to pick up Nate's show. Why? After numerous phone calls to the local T.V. station (a big thank you to Eric for taking the time to talk with me on several occasions) it seems like they didn't have room on the schedule. Really? You couldn't make room for my Nate? I graciously offered to give up The Doctor's time slot or Dr. Phil. Who watches The Doctor's? Really, I want to know. If you watch this show please e-mail and tell me why. Give me one good reason they should be on the air talking about body odor when I could be watching Nate.
I found the artichoke bowl/vase at Home Goods.
And God bless the reader who asked about my sofa fabric. I know it's a little hard to see the pattern under all the dirt, food and filth. I ordered it from Restoration Hardware about 4 years ago. I checked and they don't carry it any more. I have to say it hasn't held up that well. Of course we are not gentle with our fabrics, so it may be user error.

Don't you love him? He has a mate somewhere in my house or attic. God only knows where, but I am determined to reunite them. And then find lamps. I have had these shades for 8 years, through 3 moves. I am surprised there are any feathers left on them. They are meant for a chandelier or sconce, but I am convinced that I will one day find two freakishly skinny brass lamps on which to hang my furry friends. Wish me luck!
This is only a sample of how bad it was. I had already removed numerous board games and books before I took this picture. Am I the only one with a dislike of board games? Monopoly Jr.? Torture. I like a quick game of say Tic Tac Toe or Rock Paper Scissors. In fact we played one of my favorite games on the ride home from dinner last night. The Quiet Game. I lost. But being a gracious loser I encouraged the kids to keep playing. And they did. The whole drive home. The Quiet Game, it's a good thing.
I went through all the boxes and if a piece was missing..bye-bye! Bye-bye Hi Ho Cheerio with all your stinking cherries. Bye-bye Chutes and Ladders. If I had known it was going to bring me so much joy, I would have thrown them away years ago.
For all those that asked, yes, Butterball wore his gobbers to school the first day and the second day and the third day. When you find a look that works why fool with it.
This is when he saw me at the end of the morning and came a running. How long will he do that? I think time might be running out: I can't picture this same reaction in middle school.
At this point I was all smiles because I was sure he was going to take a nap which meant mama would get a nap. But no such luck. Where does he get his energy?

I just couldn't bear to watch Design Star. I don't know why. Maybe because everything just looked sloppy and cheap. I can do sloppy and cheap. I need more pizazz in my T.V. viewing. But I decided to give Secrets From a Stylist a chance and I loved it.
I really enjoyed watching the process as well as the outcome. A Perfect Gray also did a post on the show and even included paint colors if you are interested.
