House Tour

I know I am a day late with this home tour, but I had some technical difficulties. A big thank you to Lucy Murchison, the homeowner's daughter, who worked, and worked, and worked with me on these photos. If you missed the bedroom pictures from Monday you can see them here. Enjoy!!

Welcome to the home of Marybeth Reid, Dallas, Texas.
Loving the entrance hall and especially the blue bowls.
I also like the garden stools and the bench. Marybeth has a real knack for layering.

Paintings by Marybeth. Yes, not only is she a talented decorator, but she also paints. I think creativity comes in bunches.

Family Room
Love the ceiling reflected in the mirror.
The shape of those chairs is fantastic. And Marybeth, I need more info on your furry, leather friend hanging on the wall. I love the unexpected!!

Family Room

Living Room.

I love this view because you can see both the bamboo tables and the garden stools.

Love this grouping. The bottom painting is by Marybeth. The top painting is by Marybeth's husband's uncle, George Marcil. If you are going to marry into a family, try to marry into one with some talents. I think Uncle George's painting is fabulous.

This is a little nook in the breakfast room.
Let's see...I like the metal chair, the blue glass lamp, the antlers and the heron. It's all good!

Painting by Marybeth's friend, Jean Work.
Don't you love a house with personal art?

Dining room. I, of course, love the plate grouping.

Back porch overlooking the pool.

And what a pool it is. It is a far cry from the old cement pond.

From what I understand, Marybeth is in charge of the inside and her husband, Craig, is in charge of the outside. Looks like they make a pretty good team.

And finally, Marybeth's inspiration board.
So neat and organized....surprising for someone so creative . I love that it is covered in family photos.

Marybeth, thank you for sharing your home!!! I know my readers will enjoy it has much as I did.

Etsy Love

Do you ever shop on Etsy? Most of you know you can get great artwork on Etsy, but you can also get a lot more.

Need a bag? Try Mims Maine

You pick your fabric and have a bag made. I wonder if they would be willing to forget the bag and make me a couple of pillows out of this? Pillows have to be easier than that bag!! That little birdie would make me happy..I think. Anyone have the scoop on my little feathered friend? I think it is Schumacher. I need to do some research.

Or what about some pillows from Karen Hilton Design's. Very clever don't you think? And just my colors! $66

The Queen never looked so good!!
I think I originally saw these on so
meone else's blog. If it was yours speak up and I'll give you full credit.

Want something a little more traditional? What about Chiang Mai Dragon from Plum Cushions?

Love this from Lee Jofa.

Plum Cushion will also custom make you a pillow out of Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis. Stop by and take a look.

Now how about this ironing board cover to brighten your laundry room?

At only $24 it is a lot of bang for your buck and it would cheer you up as you slaved over your dirty clothes. City Chic Country Mouse.

And don't forget Etsy has clothing. Great, handmade, original pieces.

I am still on the search for the perfect tunic and right now I am loving this one from Pamela Tang.

It reminds me of the painting smocks I use to wear as a kid. I think it would be perfect with a tee or turtleneck. I also think it would make me feel hip and that is not always easy to do with three kids, a Suburban and bouffy hair!! Check out Pamela's site here.

That concluded today's tour or Etsy. Hope you enjoyed it!!!

Marybeth's home tour tomorrow. I promise. I have seen the pictures and you are not going to want to miss it!!

Readers' Rooms

Have you seen Rhonda's bedroom contest at All The Best? You must check it out. The rooms are beautiful, and even better, one of my readers has a room in the contest.

Marybeth Reid from Dallas, Texas. You may know Marybeth as the reader who tipped me off to the striped brown fabric. I e-mailed her full of questions, of which, one was if she was a decorator. She very humbly said she had a small decorating business.

(This gives you a little bit closer view)
I think her room is absolutely beautiful. Marybeth has lived all over the world and I think it shows in her table top collections. I love the layers.

Another picture from her bedroom shows part of her fabulous art collection. These pictures were neither styled by a professional nor taken by a professional photographer, but they could easily be in House Beautiful. I asked her to hop in her car and drive on over to N.C. to help me. I feel sure she will be here any minute. Even better? I have more pictures of her beautiful home to share tomorrow. Be sure to come back for more.

If Marybeth's bedroom looks like House Beautiful, this next room from Danielle Biglin could be in Domino. Danielle loved Kelly Wearstler's Imperial Trellis and wanted to wallpaper her bedroom. Because of cost she looked for other options and found the perfect solution at Home Goods.

Imperial trellis sheets and duvet cover. I love the contrast with the print at the foot of the bed. It is unexpected and young looking. Love it! Danielle, we may need to see more of your bedroom!

Aren't my readers talented? I love looking at design magazines, but even better is seeing how real people live and decorate. Marybeth and Danielle, thank you for sharing!!!

Don't forget to check out the Bedroom Contest at All The Best. Also, be sure to read the list of judges, very impressive!!

What I'm Loving..

Here are a few things I am loving right now.
Thought it would be nice to share!

Annabel Grey Fabrics

Have you heard of Annabele Grey fabrics? I hadn't either, but happened to stumble across Print Pattern Blog and the post on these fabulous fabrics. Love the bright fun colors and whimsical patterns.

I could so see this in a little girls room...

Or a big girls room.

Or a kitchen in the country.
The fabric is so full of personality. Check it out here.

Do you read Pink Wallpaper? I am sure you do, but if you don't you should start. I love Shannon's style and she always finds the best images. Now she has added an on-line store to share the wealth of goodies from her attic. The Designer's Attic.

Shannon updates the site frequently. So frequently that I have missed out on some real treasures. This chandelier for example sold for $50.

And this mercury glass lamp sold for $30. Whoever got this lamp is one lucky girl..or boy. Changed your mind? E-mail me! I had actually thought of doing something similar but Shanon's stuff is better than my stuff and you can't beat the prices.

Tired of seeing what you can't have? This door knocker is always available and would add such a fun touch to your front door. Price to give your front door a little personality? $40. Enjoyment it will bring you? Priceless.
Be sure to check out The Designer's Attic here.

Last but not least Old Navy. I am very happy with ON right now. I almost bought a pair of AG Boyfriend jeans at Anthropologie for almost $200. I hesitated because 1. that is what I do and 2. the fit wasn't quite right. While in Old Navy I saw these jeans. The Weekend Jeans. They fit perfectly. And cost $20. Now I don't mind spending money on jeans. You wear them everyday. I'd rather spend $200 on jeans than on a cocktail dress I wear once. But $20? I can hardly stand myself I am so excited.

Then I found these Boot Cut Cords on sale for $15. I have underwear that cost more than that. Well, for the 3 pack anyway. They are very flattering, contrary to how this picture looks. I am sure the photographer said "This is not high fashion. We are selling to middle America, hike your pants up like a big Goober."
Check out Old Navy.

That is what I am loving right now. What about you? See anything you like?

And a big Thank You to Sarah at Real Estate Style for another Honest Scrap Award!!! I can't tell you how happy it makes me to receive these awards from my
fellow bloggers. Please be sure to check out Sarah's blog here.

Have a great weekend!

Blog Comments

Are the best! I got a comment last week on my What Would You Do post. I always try to check out other's blogs and I got the nicest surprise when I went to Russell Sprouts. Niki was selling these fabulous curtains.

Schumacher Arklow Paisley.
It was funny because I almost got this fabric for the curtains in my den. Because of the expense, I went with something else. But Niki is selling the panels for $125 each. That is less than it would cost to buy the fabric.

I thought maybe they would work in my living room which is in desperate need of curtains. Sadly the colors didn't work at all.

I wasn't ready to give up so I tried my bedroom. They would work if I changed some bedding, but the big kicker was that I was going to need to have 2 more panels made. Niki has 6 panels, 3 sets, for sale. I needed 8 panels for the bedroom. Things were getting out of hand. Does that ever happen to you?

These have got to work for one of my readers!! I love these curtains and want them to find a good home. The fabric is fabulous and they are beautifully made. Interested? Contact Niki at Russell Sprouts or click here.
If you do decide that you can not live without these curtains and would like some extra fabric e-mail me. My sister can order you a few extra yards for pillows. Aren't we efficient?

On that same post I mentioned I had been looking for some brown and white striped fabric and a reader, mb, said she had seen some at The Fabric Factory in Dallas. One phone call later and a sample was in the mail. See? Comments are the best and so are my readers!! Thank you mb!! If you get a chance send me your e-mail.

Here's the sample gathered and thumb-tacked to my french doors. I love the looks of it in this picture, but in real life it is more of a butterscotch brown and I need chocolate brown. I think I have a problem and I may seek professional help. Decorating, not psychiatric. Although both may not be a bad idea. Anyway, I do love this fabric and I will find another use for it!!

Thanks again for all the wonderful comments and support. I love hearing from you!!

Honestly

I couldn't be more excited or proud to receive not one, but two, Honest Scrap Awards. One from Yansy at Designing Life and one from Karen at Strictly Simple Style. Thank you both so much for the award and the support!!! Be sure to click on the links to check out their fabulous blogs!

You know you sit alone at your computer typing away, having a big old time looking at pretty pictures and having highly entertaining conversations all in your head. By yourself. So it is really nice when someone pats you on the back.

Here are the rules I must follow, upon receiving this award:

1) Say thanks and give a link to the presenter of the award.
2) Share "10 Honest Things" about myself.
3) Present this award to 7 others whose blogs I find brilliant in content and/or design, or those who have encouraged me.
4) Tell those 7 people they've been awarded HONEST SCRAP and inform them of these guidelines in receiving.

Are you tired of hearing about me? If so, I understand and you don't have to continue reading, but I will try to come up with something interesting to say about myself.

1. My children's names aren't really Doodle, Peanut and Butterball.
That's just what I call them.

2. Their names are Cricket, Clay and Locke. And yes, Cricket is a nickname. Her real name is Catherine. Doodle is a nickname for Cricket. Remember this is all coming from a girl named Sissy. We're big into nicknames.

3. I don't like poetry. It makes me a little queasy.

4. I don't watch a lot of T.V. and when I do it's not very sophisticated.

5. I am a fan of Dancing With the Stars. Maybe it would be fun to have Dancing with the Bloggers? ABC if you are reading this, my two left feet and I would love to compete.

6. I also love Giuliana and Bill. Have you seen it? If not try to catch an episode. You will be entertained.

7. I am afraid I am boring you to tears!!

8. Here is some exciting news if you live in or near Wilmington, The Big Green Warehouse Sale is this weekend!!
Friday Sept 25th 8-5
Saturday Sept 26th 8-3

910-293-7329

Last time I went I had a great time. Pictures here. I don't know if I will make it this time. I am saving up for some big changes around here. More on that later.
Before I go I wanted to include some pretty pictures for you from Designing Life & Strictly Simple Style. Enjoy!!

Can't believe it is Fall. I may try this with my pumpkins this year!
