While getting my hair straightened I had some extra time to flip through magazines. Actually I had 3 1/2 hours. Hair straightening is a serious business. I caught up with all my celebrity friends and even got to look at some home decor magazines. My favorite was Southern Living. I know, I was surprised too!
It has such a great lived-in look with tons of style.
This has got to be my favorite room. You know I love that chair and the floor. Together they bring me all kinds of joy!! I am going to have to renew my long expired Southern Living subscription. Want to see more? Check it out here.
Love it too! It is so warm and personal!!
ReplyDeleteThis is JUST the look I've been trying to convey to my sister, who just bought a new home. Thanks for the the heads-up, as I don't subscribe to SL - rethinking that, though...
ReplyDeleteOh, that makes me want to rush right out and buy SL.
ReplyDeleteOh, now i see she's that girl who owns And George. I remember her from magazines years ago when she and her husband were newlyweds and she had just opened that store. I like how her style has evolved. Loved her then, too.
ReplyDeleteThat last photo is my favorite too!! It's perfect!
ReplyDeleteI loved this issue and particularly that house. It was so lived but so chic too.
ReplyDeleteoh wow- you're right! This home is fabulous! I especially love the space with all of the shelves, zebra rug and wire chair. Thanks for sharing!

I haven't cracked open a Southern Living in a while, either. This home is wonderful! Thanks for the tip!
ReplyDeletelove southern living especially when all the peeps at cottage living entered the picture :)
ReplyDeleteI wrote a very similar comment on another blog recently about how SL has kicked it up a notch since the new editor has come on board. I too need to re-new my long lapsed subscription. Hope the hair-straightening went well. My poor 5-year-old boy would probably like to undergo the same thing. He sprays his hair and tries to brush his curls straight every morning. Breaks my heart!
ReplyDeleteHi there Sissy,
ReplyDeleteLove the house in SL. Every room has a surprise. What a great blend of traditional with a sassy edge.
Not so sure if I am going to run out and get a subscription just yet.
Still missing Cottage Living.
Thanks for the heads up.

this is a fantastic home!
ReplyDeleteI've done a few posts about SL lately. It was a favorite growing up and is still a favorite.
ReplyDeleteYeah, SL has come a long way in the last couple of years. Finally getting a much hipper look. I used to subscribe just for the recipes, but now I'm loving a lot of rooms I see in there, too.
ReplyDeletelove the 2nd photo but the first one....white couch, bottle of wine on the table and little girl standing on the couch could be a fiasco worse than Butterball and the conditioner all over the rug that you cleaned with a spatula!
ReplyDeleteI love love SL lately! Great recipes. And I'm not even Southern..
ReplyDeleteI have so many mags I'm behind on reading! I'm in love with that house, so cute for a young family!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised too! I'll have to pick up a copy! Thanks for the tip :o)

I would have thought you were a curly girl! Let it go curly, it is so forgiving, makes you look younger, you don't take yourself so seriously and just plain FUN... like you!
ReplyDeletegreat minds think alike! I had to post this kelly green swan chair, too (My hair takes that long, too...by the way, did babies make your hair curlier? I had board straight hair until pregnacies...now so curly!)
ReplyDeleteOh wow! I may need to subscribe for all the reasons you just mentioned...and as for hair straightening...I know for a first hand fact that in a week you will have more than made up for that time! :)
ReplyDeleteThat makes me laugh because I used to make so much fun of my mom for reading Southern Living and now I subscribe to it! I love the interiors and most of the time there are some seriously good recipes. I could do without the gardening section as I have a black thumb and can't seem to keep anything alive! You should totally get a subscription.
ReplyDeleteI love this home and that I wouldn't be afraid to have my kids living in there.:)
ReplyDeleteI know, right?! I loved this story as well-- it made me want to start switching out everything in my house, too, to make rooms work better for us (and put a sofa in my dining room...)
ReplyDeleteI love that green chair!
ReplyDeleteI really wish i could go for that leopard rug look...wall to wall in one room at least...but it is so DARN pricey...! Loved the shelving- look alot like mine! :))))

Best chair and floor ever! I love the leopard rug. I can't get over the fact my grandma had it all over her staircase and everyone thought it's highly distasteful (I loved it) and now it's THE thing. Could do without the shabby-chic chairs, though.
ReplyDeleteI just came across that lovely office with the green swan chair too while I was reading Southern Living at my parent's house - love it!!! Combined with the black and white checkerboard floor - gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteI loved that room, too. There's nothing like green and white and black, huh??
ReplyDeleteIt's amazing how a black/white floor dresses up a room!
ReplyDeletelove those book shelves and the tiny jackets on the coat rack hung very low.
ReplyDeleteHow did I miss this?!? I just love everything about this house!
