I love a mix of traditional and modern. I think it gives a home personality and keeps it from looking too grandma (nothing personal Bama).
Isn't this dining room fabulous? Traditional dining room table, but the chairs keep it from being totally predictable.
If you like this trend, which I do, it can be hard to find pieces in Wilmington.
Oh, I know, there is Ebay, but sometimes you want to see, touch and feel before you buy.

Do you want to add a touch of the unexpected to your home? What about the Plycraft lounge chair pictured above? If you like it, you are in luck.
This will be auctioned off next weekend at Big South Auctions here in Wilmington. Wouldn't it be great in a den? And even better? There is an ottoman.
So, I'm curious: Are you a fan of mixing in some modern touches or not so much?

I love that little office. I'm always a fan of mixing elements.
ReplyDeleteTotally, TOTALLY a fan of the mix, and beyond jealous that I'm nowhere near, to be able to bid on that lounge chair!
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of this look. Throw in a little Chinoiserie along with the trad/modern and that's what I go for. I found a Plycraft lounge chair on Craigslist not long ago but it was still pretty pricey. And I blogged about my love of the Eames Management Chair, but never got it. Just couldn't decide if it was right for me after all was said and done.
ReplyDeletei always love to add a modern piece of furniture into my spaces, adds interest. beautiful photos!
ReplyDeleteI love the image of the bamboo book shelf paired with the lovely blue and white hydrangea combo! xx
ReplyDeleteI am LOVING that you did this post- I am a HUGE fan of mixing super modern with ultra traditional. It makes the room feel lived in, timeless and interesting! I just did a post about our home office- we have VERY modern chairs in a pretty traditional space- -here is the link!

ReplyDeletewonderful piece, Sissy. you have read my mind. I want so badly to incorporate a little mod into my traditional but it's such a hard thing to do!

Great post, Sissy. I do love to mix things up. I also love to add quirky accessories. The chair is wonderful and I LOVE auctions - wish I could be there.
ReplyDeleteBest,
Colleen
I love your post...I actually recognize two of the photos and have them in a binder. I love my Knoll chairs and Saarinen table, but I could not live with all modern stuff. I think i would feel like I live in a Room and Board Showroom. I like to mix it with traditional like these great examples.
ReplyDeleteI'm a huge fan of mixing styles to create a fabulously stunning interior!
ReplyDeleteGreat Post! I do love the mix of modern and traditional in a room.

ReplyDeleteI think even Bama would agree these rooms are amazing.
ReplyDeleteI love it! I think this is the best way to make your room look well decorated without looking too overwrought and "match-y"
ReplyDeleteI am all about the mix, as this is my very favorite type of look! Great examples and really cool chair!
