Spin Art

I am busy with another week of Art Camp so my posts my be few and far between. I did want to show you an update on the Spin Art post I did last week.

Tammy from In Stitches, saw my post and decided to give spin art a try.

She used records which is such a great idea and painted in a box to keep the mess contained.

I am so impressed! I think the finished product is fabulous and makes a great colorful statement. Don't you love it!!?? I may forget my over-sized ambitions and do several smaller pieces like Tammy. Now I need to track down my old Saturday Night Fever and Grease albums.

Be sure to check out Tammy's blog here.

  1. Gorgeous, though I still like the oversized idea...
BTW I had a guest post about making art with kids, which I think you'd like: http://bellysbutton.typepad.com/bellys/2010/07/guest-blogger-sketch-42-blogs-nicole.html

Cool effect, something different for sure. I may venture into making something like this. I will go for the larger discs tho.
In this vignette the discs compete with the busy shades......I would have hung the discs in two vertical rows of three. Gives you some height and elegance. Also get solid shades, white, blackout lining ( perfect against a dark background) Lamps is what I do, hence the eleborate comment.
    Best, Ron ( empel collections)

  4. Thanks for showing off my stuff, Sissy ! Ron, you are exactly right about the vertical rows, it's been bugging me and I wasn't quite sure what it was. I can't wait to see your over sized one, if you don't want to ruin good records then go to the thrift store.

  6. I love it as a series. Great idea to use the records so you don't have to mess with getting things the identical size. I'm all about ease factor!

  10. I did spin art with my daughter yesterday for an hour...she could have done it until the paint ran out! Isn't it fun to be surprised by the final outcome?

  12. Wow--not only to do the spin art, but to have it up in a room and looking great is impressive. Do you know how many craft projects I have waiting on me? Looks great. Have fun with camp!

  13. This is so fun! I love doing spin art with my nieces...I never would have thought of incorporating it permanently into the design of a room, but this so works. Love that yellow dresser too.
