Sticker Shock

We had a great weekend. Hope you did too. It started off with Chili & Chairs at the kids' school. Sharon Swartzlander, Forest Hills art teacher, outdid herself. Each grade paints a stool that is auctioned off while a room full of excited kids eat chili and play Bingo. Relaxing? No. Loads of fun? You bet. Parents were asked to bring in desserts to sell as part of the fund raiser. I made brownies and bought cookies. I felt bad for the store bought cookies and decided at the last minute to dress them up.

I had small plastic gift bags from Target, just big enough for two cookies. Then decided a sticker would be the perfect touch. I did it all by myself and only had to call Bill at work and ask him one question. "How do you print stickers on the computer?" Six minutes later I had my stickers. It was so surprisingly easy.

I thought the stickers gave the cookies some personality. I was excited and proud. Until I decided to check out Etsy.

There are some sticker fools over there. Like Beautiful Creations.

And Pink Clover Design. They make my stickers look like losers!!!

Bill said he would show me how to make fancy stickers yesterday, but he decided to play golf instead. Golf over sticker making? Raise your hand if you are surprised.

  2. I like yours. Please teach me how to do it. I need to know b/c I daydream a lot about the stickers I'm going to make, but I don't know how to do it.

  3. I love your stickers! Also, I think our husbands would be friends. Mine went to a golf expo on Saturday afternoon then to a driving range (its still snowing here, so actually playing golf isn't an option).

  6. Too cute... I like the simple stickers! Sometimes simple is better :o) Also, not that you have time, but if you do...would love your thoughts on which blue paint to use for our dining room. Since you seem to like blue too.
    Thanks

  8. Really, really cute post! I love it when I learn how to do something new with my computer - even if it is simple, it just gives me such a good feeling of accomplishment! Your cookies are cute as can be, and they look like the ones my kids beg me to buy at the grocery store - total sugar! They look much better in your cute bags, too!!

  10. So funny...must remember that sticker technique for the next bake sale (not that I would even know how to make your sweet simple ones!) Maybe I could just give them gold stars...and hope for the power of suggestive marketing.

  11. I am so impressed with your dressed up cookies and in all honesty, I'd reach for those over a fancy stickered cookie any day - less is more ! And I like that I can actually see the cookie :)
