Bonnie from the UK wanted to know where to get this fabulous octopus....I snapped this picture at Hewitt in Wilmington, N.C. You can call them at 910-202-4657
It is funny that Bonnie just e-mailed me about this, because last night a friend and I went to a Spring Fashion Show at Hewitt and I had a ball. If you stop by the store, tell Abe & Beth I said hello. Also there was Kelly from Beanie & Cecil a fabulous clothing store next door. I finally got up my courage and bought a pair of skinny jeans. Really they are leggings with pockets. If I am brave enough to actually wear them I will warn you in advance.
For those of you who asked, this fabric is Apsley Vine from Greeff. I bought mine from a wonderful seller on Ebay. Brick House Fabrics. If you are interested, I believe she may have a few more yards. (There is a tiny chance the colors may not work in the room I bought the fabric for, so if my Ebay seller is all out, e-mail me and I'll let you know if it doesn't work)
I know you have been holding your breath about the jacket debate. I spent yesterday trying on different jackets. Several of you asked, so here's the deal. The one pictured above that most of you liked from American Eagle? In person it was dreadful. Horrible. Cheap and thin and not at all what I expected from this photo. Oh, the power of a good photographer. Next stop the Gap. It was just O.K. The J.Crew store here in the big city of Wilmington did not have the jacket. Surprise. It is a very small store. The one I liked the best? Old Navy. They had a great jacket that looked so much like the J. Crew jacket that my hands got sweaty. And it was on sale. And, they didn't have my size. SO typical. It is no longer online, but my sister is looking in Atlanta. Cross your fingers. If she can't find it, I might bite the bullet and order the J Crew jacket now that I am obsessed and feel like this one jacket could change my life. It's like the time I knew life would be perfect if I got the Guess jeans with the buttons. And I was right. All was good in my world. I still have those jeans in my attic in case I want to relive the 80's. Do you ever get like that? Am I the only crazy one?
Funny, I went to AE to check out the jacket and had the exact same reaction you did! Too bad, but I did find some really cute embellished t-shirts that were very JCrew but much cheaper (two for $15!). Since I've been looking for that type of jacket as well, I think I know the Old Navy one you are talking about...I did try it on in my size a few weeks ago and it wasn't great. The arms were very tight (and I don't have big arms!). Well, good luck with your search and hope it works for you!
ReplyDeleteThe Guess jeans- too funny! Hope you find the jacket...
ReplyDeleteAre we living parallel lives!? Remember where I was when I bought those Guess jeans, (and eventually matchy vest...shh) Have the JCrew jkt, I can be your "yankee twin". And, really want to order those books, for my blue family room. The David Hicks blue coffee table book I have been coveting is apparently out of print..and these look so similar! PS Call some big Old Navy stores in your area...sometimes this works.GL!
ReplyDeleteold navy? I would have never guessed. Oh, and you can never say that you can't wear certain things again, I have seen your picture:)
ReplyDeleteCurious about the eBay seller. I don't find Brick House Fabrics?
ReplyDeleteHope you find the jacket!
Sometimes your day is just better with a special piece of clothing... I truely understand.
ReplyDeleteI am a J. Crew freak so I would go for the real thing. I have gone for the look alike, less expensive and have regretted the decision every time. Are you signed up for J. Crew emails? They regularly offer 20% off and free shipping online. Get the J. Crew jacket. You will love it.
ReplyDeleteI too get obsessed with something and agree that my life would vastly improve should I just attain said item. Sad, huh?
ReplyDeleteI was just at Old Navy in Nashville today and saw nothing resembling that jacket . . . bummer. If it's the J. Crew jacket you seek, go for it. You know you'll love it!
By the way, I do love your peacock fabric. I'll need to check out that eBay store. Thanks for the tip!
Oh the jcrew one was on Oprah! I love it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE LOVE the octopus art. if it helps any of your readers the manufacturer is 'natural curosities'. check out the site....so much eye candy!
ReplyDeletedebra
Love the Octopus art! I will need to head over to the Wilmington store...its not that far from where I am in Charlotte!
ReplyDeleteWay to go on conquering a fear (mine is flying, yours is skinny jeans!)
ReplyDeleteI wanted to comment that the octopus is by Natural Curiosities, but someone already beat me to it. Thom Filicia (on Dress my Nest) used it in Giuliana and Bill Rancic's condo makeover. It was blue, and he put it in their dining room.
ReplyDeleteI saw one on Old Navy today that is pretty cute. It's called Women's Twill Cargo Zip Jacket for $39.50. Plus, they are having a 20% sale on Spring items and free shipping if you spend more than $75.
