...Those who lose on Ebay. Last April I blogged about this vintage Lotus Pendant Lamp. I bid on it on Ebay, but didn't win.
Some fool paid $455 for it. God bless them. Hope it has brought them lots of joy. I thought I was going to get it for $100. Maybe I'm the fool. I have thought about it on occasion and hoped to find another one some day. Last week I stopped by a new consignment store in Wilmington, A Perfect Find. No, I didn't find the pendant but I did find...
This. It is a giant candle holder that I think looks just like the lotus pendant. Or pretty darn close. Close enough to make me a happy girl. Do you think I snapped it up the minute I saw it? No. I don't know why. I got all excited then decided I didn't need it. Later I panicked. I went back a week later. Thank you god of shopping bargains, it was still there and for $20 it was mine. Welcome home Lotus candle holder. I think we will be very happy together.
Pretty close match don't you think?
Have you gotten any good deals lately?
P.S. If while out shopping you see a match to this candle holder, holler. I would love to have a pair but doubt lighting will strike twice in little ole Wilmington.

oh, baby, that's good. and such a bargan. see, karma. you didn't get the lamp. universe KNEW you needed the candle holder more....
ReplyDeleteyou were trying to be fiscally responsible by walking away, but the pull was too hard...you were meant to have that lotus look-a-like. Enjoy it.
ReplyDeleteJust discovered your blog. I am a LGN follower, but live here in Wilmington and was so excited to see a local blogger! Love the lotus chandelier, but agree, $450 is crazy. will keep my eyes out for a matching candle holder!
ReplyDeleteLook online for a very similar pendant!! Midnight Farm on Martha's Vineyard has them for a good price! I have been eyeing it myself!
ReplyDeletea new consignment store?! Fun. I LOVE it. I would have done the same thing- waited and gone back, but you are lucky it was still there! Wilmington's hip- surprised someone didn't snatch it up. And while I think the pendant is coolio, I think I like the candle holder a tiny bit more. xo.
ReplyDeleteI love it!
ReplyDeleteWow, funny how things like that are just a mere sign that the stars are aligned. I think you should have it made into that light fixture....
ReplyDeletepve
Perfect!
ReplyDeleteyou make me laugh!! you got so excited and then left w/o it! and everything doesn't need to be in pairs Noah!
ReplyDeleteI have found several fabulous deals at Scott's as of late! There is nothing more exciting than a great find. I love the candle holder. It was destiny!!

Love it, I'm sure spending $20 over $450 also makes you happy. Did I mention I love it? Great find! xo
ReplyDeleteGreat find. Consignment stores are the best. I just bought a great piece of artwork that is beautifully framed at a consignment store this past week-only $50!
ReplyDeleteGREAT find! I would be positively giddy if I were you.
ReplyDeleteand I love it when I wait and wait for an ebay auction to come to a close thinking I'm going to get the greatest deal on earth only to lose out and have said item go for twice or more than I what I would have paid. UGH!
oh you have horseshoes... can't believe it was still there, wow, anyway great purchase...
ReplyDeleteI have to say, I like your piece even MORE than the ebay light! Its so great...and if I run across TWO of them I will hollah, cause the first one will be MINE! (Not nice, but totes true.)
ReplyDeleteGreat score- its very pretty!
ReplyDeleteHey there- the book is called FLIP for Decorating, by Elizabeth Mayhew. I ordered it from Amazon last week but it has not come yet so I cant say personally what its like yet. Hopefully I love it though!
ReplyDeleteI like your candle holder much more than that fool's pendant lamp. Well done!
ReplyDeleteLoved going on your little trip there. Made me smile. I do that too: Fall in love with something... Decide not to get it... Think 24-7 about it until I finally cave. Good times!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! You've just inspired me to hit up my favorite junk/antique stores this weekend.
ReplyDeleteLooks pretty similar - great find!
ReplyDeleteI just spent the last hour reading your blog. Hysterical! We are from the same era. I get it all-- I will be reading you daily from now on.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great blog!

LOVE it! I remember when you initially posted that light fixture. Thought it was very cool then, but love your much more reasonable but equally chic candle holder. Great find!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! And certainly more versatile than the pendant...
ReplyDeleteDon't you love when things like that happen! I love it! Honestly, I like your candle holder better than the pendant and for $20; man, oh man!! Great find and I'm glad you went back to get it!
ReplyDeleteLOVE this! Maybe you can have it turned into a chandelier . . . ???
ReplyDeleteWow, it's AWESOME!! What a great find!!
