Do You Remember?

It is amazing what you come across when searching the web for cute shoes....

All kinds of forgotten fun from my childhood. Do you remember Land of the Lost? The originall. Not the lame movie remake that tarnished the image of a classic T.V. show. And what were those bad guys called? Sleestacks? They looked like aliens. This show had a big impact on me as I looked to it for fashion guidance. That may have been a mistake. I had corduroy Levi's in all the colors and of course wore them with my flannel shirts and Wallabees. And then wondered why everyone called me son.

Oh, Tickle! I was so excited to pick out my very first deodorant to take to camp....Tickle! I liked the pink and blue. Is this still around?

OMG! Sigmund the Sea Monster!!

And H.R. Puff-N-Stuff.

I know the flute's name was Freddy, but what was the boy's name? They are probably going to kick me out of the Puff-N-Stuff fan club for forgetting his name!! Yes, I was a member. Can I just say in hindsight that was a weird
show!!! I can still sing the theme song, although when I sang it for my kids they begged me to stop. No one appreciates a good show tune these days!

Did you collect Madame Alexander dolls? My sister and I did and had these exact dolls. Wonder where they are? I am sure we lost the wooden shoes, the best part of the outfit, if you ask me!
Please tell me someone remembers astronaut food!!! We used to eat these for snack. They weren't all that good, but we thought we were so cool eating space food!!
I seem to have watched a lot of T.V. in my youth. And they say too much T.V. isn't good for you! Ha! Look how well I've turned out. And I wasn't even watching good T.V.

See anything from your childhood? I've had so much fun; I may do this again next Friday!!! What do you think?

PS I had several e-mails asking about Barbour Jackets, there are some awesome vintage jackets on Ebay right right now for way less than the $395 retail price!!! And I can tell you the coats only get better with age!!!

  1. Okay, how much fun was this for me?!! LOVE Land of the Lost. And H.R. Puff-n-Stuff?! A favorite. Larry and I torture the kids by humming the song. I think the creators of that show were on some serious drugs. Remember Witchy- Poo? Tickle? Loved it. I don't see that at Target!! Thanks!

  3. Yes, again next Friday! Love this, feel so ancient, yet so fun to look back! Land of the Lost (lol...literally) and witchiepoo too! With you on everything except the space food? My husband bought the complete set of Land of the Lost and makes my kids suffer through it...was terrified of the sleestacks growing up, they just shrug their shoulders...this was the most fun!

  10. Don't hate me for not recognizing any of this!? I'm afraid my generation's memories revolved around bad Nickelodeon game shows. Your memories are far more interesting. Have a lovely weekend! XO Katie

  16. Are you 45? Because I am and we must have had just about the same childhood. I know what happened to my Madame Alexander doll: I had her on a hutch next to a lamp and her hair caught on fire. RIP Madame. I always ask people my age if they remember Space Sticks but they rarely do. Glad to know I didn't imagine them. Aren't they basically Tootsie Rolls with a fancy name? Great post!

  17. Oh, one last thing - what about Lidsville? I think it was another Sid and Marty Kroft show (HR Puffenstuff). Charles Nelson Reilly was in it. Is that scary or what?

  19. Don't ask why, but I was looking around on youtube and found those old videos from the Electric Company with that funky song about numbers. you know, the one wit the pinball machine. 1234-5, 6789-10, 11. Twellllve. aaah yeah. i think it was actually performed by the pointer sisters.
    here's the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KDm0PqjAF78

that's a funky groove. if our kids had this they'd be WAY smarter.
