It's Back

I was browsing the J Crew website, and came across this jacket...

J Crew Barbour Classic Bedale Jacket

A Barbour Jacket? That rang a bell. I had a Barbour jacket years ago...now where was it? Two closets later I found it...

Now this just goes to show you should buy what you love! I bought this jacket 24 years ago when I was in Oxford, England for a year of school. This was all the rage among the hip, young locals, so of course, I had to have one. I have loved and worn it ever since. Except for the past two years when it got stuffed in the deep, dark corner of my entrance hall closet. It was like a family reunion when I found it. Oh, if this jacket could talk! It looks good for being 24 years old doesn't it?

Do you have an old timer in your closet?

  1. I can't believe that jacket is as old as I am! My winter coat of choice is actually one passed down from my dad from his college days...circa 1965. It's a brown corduroy lined with some sort of fake fur. It's certainly not pretty, but it's cozy and warm!

  3. It still looks great!

Quick cute story about Barbour jackets - one of my good friends was dating a great guy, and he got her a Barbour jacket for her birthday. He then told her to try it on, which she did. He then told her to feel in the pockets. Guess what? There was a little ring box with an engagement ring it! So not only did she get a beautiful diamond and a great guy, but she got an awesome jacket! I bet she'll save hers too!

  6. Sissy,
I bought my husband a Barbour while visiting his parents in England about 25 years ago. He still has his too. His is long.
Now that you have found yours, time to oil the fabric so that it does what it's suppose to do. Repel water while looking hip.
