I'm Scared

Today is the last day of school. Yep, summer starts this afternoon at 2:25. And I'm scared. I love my kids. I do. They're cute kids. I love nothing more than spending 24 hours a day with them for 3 months straight. What mom wouldn't? Still....it's a long time. There are 3 of them and only one of me.

I have decided to focus on the positive. I have spent the last hour getting teachers gifts wrapped and because I am such a craft nerd, it made me happy.

It's just a gift card to the book store but presentation is so important.

See? It doesn't take much to make me happy. Just some tissue paper and boxes...

Times four.
The kids were going to help me. I thought we would spend some quality time crafting, but T.V. won out. It was an iCarly they had NEVER seen and would probably NEVER see again. How can you argue with that?

I also have to take in two dozen doughnuts and couldn't help but decorate them as well. Do I have a problem? Maybe...

I just got back from the end of the year awards program and had to share this with you. Jarrett made these for her teachers. Isn't it a great teacher's gift? She found the watering can at Home Goods and painted the monogram on herself!! The tag says "Thank you for helping me grow!" Why didn't I think of that? It would also make a fun house-warming gift.

Thank you to all our teachers for a wonderful year! Hope you have a great summer!

Is anyone else scared?

  2. Friend, at least you have the BEACH 10 minutes away. But please do come to Charlotte. How come the gift cards I sent in this morning did not look so cute?! Why didn't you show this yesterday so I could quickly copy you?!! I don't know if I know how to make paper flowers that small!! Perfect presentation! They may not want to open the boxes!

  3. Adorable! I have a friend who has an entire "gift wrapping station" with ribbons and bows, and confetti--it's simply awesome! Someday, I will have it together. As a former teacher, I feel your fear!

  6. Amazing gifts. I totally agree that packaging is important. How did you make those tissue roses/bows. I must learn and I swear I will do it on every package from now on.

I don't have kids, but I can totally understand freaking out a bit that they will home 24/7 wanting to be entertained at all times!

  7. My kids are 28 and 24 but I remember those days all too well. Someone should make you a survival kit... just remember... the first two weeks are the hardest. After that I am sure you will be fine! Like your tissue flowers and the watering can pic!

  8. OH MY GOSH, I am blown away. I need a tutorial on the flower decorations. What a cute idea. I think I would fall over with joy if I was given doughnuts with that bow. The watering can is SUCH A GOOD IDEA!!!!

  9. I am past scared now that the kids have been out for a few weeks...I am in the shell-shocked phase. I have turned into a short order cook. I start to look at the clock with dread at 11 am...soon I will have to figure out what on earth I am going to make for lunch, for three kids who really do not like lunch food. Although I am thrilled that the school lunch program is so healthy and well rounded, it has made my kids have high expectations for lunch. A pbj doesn't really cut it!
