Tulum - Spring Break

Hey!! Is anybody still reading?? I took a break... and now I am about to take another break - Spring Break. After much research I came up with Tulum, Mexico. When I read it was a favorite of New York fashion insiders and celebrities I thought "What a perfect fit for a soccer mom, her husband and three kids!" 

Beautiful beaches, Mayan Ruins and Mexican food...what more could you want?

How about fabulous street style? I know! Could it get any better?

Can't wait to bust out some summer dresses but in the meantime I am trying to figure out what to do with my hair...our hotel/cabana does not allow hair dryers. Yes, you heard me, NO hair dryers. It's all eco-friendly, solar powered, good for the environment, bad for the girl with the crazy hair. . So I am thinking about this...

Fabulous!! Take out the cigarette add a margarita and I think I could make it work. 

I am off to watch videos on turban tying!!

Faux Furry

Try and guess what I bought on my trip to Chicago?

Oh, good guess! I have been looking for a leopard faux fur jacket for years. I really wanted a vintage coat but that is like finding a leprechaun riding a unicorn..probably not going to happen.So when I walked into Topshop and saw this...

I knew I had to have it!! It was the only one in my size and I only had to wait in line 15 minutes to try it on so I knew it was meant to be. 

I am so excited and can't wait to wear it. 

Don't you think it will go with everything? 

Little black dress, jeans and a t...the options are endless. 

I know it is not for everyone...but it is perfect for me.

Let's Talk

Have you read Me Before You? If not stop whatever you are doing and go get a copy. Get a real book, not a Nook book. This is one you will want to share. Several friends had recommended it but I just couldn't get excited about it. For one thing the cover didn't appeal to me. I know, "you shouldn't judge a book by it's cover" but come on...

This cover looks like a fluffy, Victorian love story. 

I'm not going to say too much about it except, Will Traynor you broke my heart but I still love you. I am not a big crier but I had a little sob fest after I finished this book. I was dying to talk to someone about it and literally had to chase Bill around the house yelling out the plot but he just wasn't interested...go figure. So please, go read and then let's talk.

Back From the Big City

I am back from Chicago and I LOVED it!!!

Thanks to y'all's suggestions we saw a Second City Comedy Show and took an Architecture Boat Tour. And of course did a lot of eating and shopping.

And speaking of shopping I found a Frye Store - it smelled like leather heaven (Or a barnyard depending on your love of animal hides).

Here I am deep in thought trying to decide between two pairs.

After a long struggle a decision was made and I will show you what I got when the boots arrive. They shipped them for me so I didn't have to drag them home on the plane and also didn't have to pay tax: win-win.

Country Come to Town

I am off to Chicago....

Packing was a challenge. Have you ever pulled out your fall/winter clothes and wonder what in the hell you wore last year? Me too!

But I am excited about some stripes and beads...

It Shouldn't Be This Hard

Now that it is officially fall, it is time once again to begin the long, often painful, search for the perfect boot.

Some people might call this a problem...

I call it options.

I would have taken a better picture but I was exhausted after trying on all these boots...several times.
