(MaryBen, this post is for you)
I have been looking for the perfect thing to hang over my bed for years. You know the perfect thing, it's like a boyfriend, you can't find it if you're looking. So I decided to break down and get something, something shiny to keep the wall company until the perfect thing shows up. But I didn't want to spend a lot on the substitute and while at Target I saw a maybe.
A sunburst mirror. I know, I know, who would have thought to hang a sunburst over the bed? You know why you see this in so many bedrooms? Because it looks good. And the price was right, $24.99. But the color wasn't it. It was a rusty, wrought iron color but at $24.99 I wasn't going to give up. Out came the gold paint and a sponge brush and...
Ta da. Shiny, happy, sunny mirror. I wanted it to look a little old and not perfect. It makes me happy.
Looks great! Did you make your headboard?!
ReplyDeleteLove it, Sissy! Necessity is the mother of invention. I just found a sunburst at a consignment store for $20 that I'm loving. I currently have a sunburst over my bed too (shocking, I know), but I might switch it out for the new one.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see your Etsy pillow!
Oops, meant eBay pillow. I haven't had my coffee yet. :)
ReplyDeleteWow it looks great! Great find too!
ReplyDeleteOK, I think we might be the same person! I've seen this same mirror at Target multiple times and every time I've thought, "If I just paint that gold it would look amazing over my bed." Love it. You just gave me the push I needed to actually do it. It looks great! PS- love your headboard too!
ReplyDeleteVery funny, that part about the boyfriend. But, you may end up in a lasting relationship with that "maybe" mirror.
ReplyDeleteGood luck getting the pillow over the border. The delay might not be the seller, but Customs. You would think Canada/US, no big deal? When my husband and I lived in Toronto and I needed to send things to my adult children back in Dallas, I might as well have waited to fly it back myself. So frustrating.

ReplyDeleteWho cares if they are overused sunburst mirrors are the shiz, I would never get rid of my sunburst sculpture over my bed.
ReplyDeleteI put a sunburst mirror over my bed a year ago, and I'm still obsessed. What a find! Wish we had Target in NYC!
ReplyDeletenice work it looks great
ReplyDeleteIt's just the perfect amount of bling and I'm dying over your headboard!!!
ReplyDeleteI have the sae mirror and did the same thing last week! I used gold spray paint on mine though, it took no time at all and I love the result.
ReplyDeleteI so need that for my bathroom with the retro sunburst wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteMine will need a shot of silver.
Well done.
