Holiday Warning

There are a lot of hidden dangers during the holidays. I was the victim of one and wanted to pass along this warning to you. If you see these little silver and red guys during the holidays do NOT eat them. Yes, they look sweet and innocent but they are deadly. Deadly addictive. I don't even particularly care for sugar and almost never eat sweets. (I'm a salt alcoholic and get really cranky when I have sugar)

I bought a bag of the Hershey Candy Cane Kisses purely for decoration. Friday night I decided to try one: smooth, creamy white chocolate with tiny bits of candy cane sprinkled in. I decided to have one more. An entire handful later I knew I was in for a bad sugar trip. It was worth it but I have learned my lesson. Has anyone else tried these? Did you find them unusually yummy?

  4. This salt-aholic, pass-the-french-fries-not-the-desert, anti-sweets girl just polished off an entire bag in 3 days! Now yesterday I couldn't find them in the store! I'll have to stock up next year. There's something about the crunch of those tiny candies in there...mmmm.

  5. I actually just encountered these on top of a cookie my friend made for a cookie swap. Yum! Now I want a bag of my own. Thanks for the warning. I think they're probably just as addictive as the peppermint/white chocolate-covered pretzels I found at Whole Foods. Beware, they are addictive as well!

  11. they are very addictive! and because they are so small, you don't realize how many you've had till it's too late.

  15. I did the same thing. Picked them up last weekend in Duane Reede purely because they would look great in a mercury glass bowl I had put out for the holidays and haven't been able to stop eating them since!

  18. ... well you know you don't put on weight if
    - nobody sees you eating
    - eat only little bits at a time
    - when food is cold as you need more calories to burn .. (like ice cream)
    - when it is dark (f. i. dark choclate)
    - or when you do a good deed - like supporting the vendor or so

    greetings from Germany
(we have the problem of Glühwein ..sweet hot wine.. and Bratwurst on our Christmas markets over here ...)
