Big for Spring

Did you know braids are big for Spring? And not just for Heidi.

They have become high fashion.

I have worn my hair in a braid for about the last year.

But after seeing some recent pictures, I was afraid I was starting to look like an aging hippie or the crazy lady who lives with 27 cats. For the record I don't have any cats. They make my eyes itchy and watery and my throat close up.

Braids just didn't look high fashion on me.

Do you know what this is? It is my old pony tail. I had 4 inches cut off today. I forgot how curly my hair is when it is shorter..it looks like a poof ball. If I decide I want some high fashion, I will just have to buy a clip on braid. I keep telling myself it will grow back...right?

  1. How brave of you! It's always good to mix things up a bit, and your hair will always grow back.

  2. Hehe... Good for you! I'm saving my hair for our wedding in August, I'm actually planning on having it down instead of up, so it needs to be long an flowy! :D

  3. I'm with you Sissy, I feel a little old for a braid! Want to see your new do. I am sure you look quite chic with your shorter hair!

  4. oh, I'll bet you look darling, and your hair is still long. I cut a lot of my hair off, and I still have long hair, and yours was much longer than mine!! It's fun to shake things up.

  5. I wore my hair in pig tail braids to the gym the other day and someone asked what grade I was in. Seriously? Just look at my pregnant belly!!! :) I'm not a teenager!

  7. I love wearing my hair in a braid sometimes, unfortunately all of my layers cause hair to poke out randomly. It makes me wish my hair was super long like those models!

  8. Having a hard time concentrating on the braids because I'm trying to figure out what's up with the model's eyebrows? Is that in style, too? Have to get out the gel and try that:)

  9. Yes, your hair will grow back... Good luck with the clip on braid. Can't wait to see that!

  10. I grew up in the '70s and '80s when it seemed like hairstyles were delineated by age more than they are now. Braids on a 60 yr old, highlights on a 10 yr old, anything goes. I bet your hair is so healthy that it looks great now, and will be even more beautiful should you decide to grow it out again.

  11. Haha, love this post. Off course your hair will grow back. A clip will do but is not necessary, is it? Now you can switch from curly to braid, how fashionable can one be?!
    Happy thoughts!

  12. I have a big long braid in my hair RIGHT NOW! Although I agree with you... I've been wearing them for a couple of decades, and am just now starting to feel a little hippie dippie when I wear two braids heidi-style, which I used to think was cute when I was in my 20s. Now that I'm breaking into my 30s... mabye it's time to consolidate into one.

I wear a braid to work a lot, but because I work in a big corporate office, I think I'm the only person in the entire building who wears my hair like that, at least that I've seen. The ladies I work with tend to favor the professional bob.

  13. I love braids, but I recently cut my hair to shoulder length so it will have to be shorter braids for me!

  14. Up where we go skiing, all the cute girls wear their hair in pony tail braids under their ski hats, ala chic Heidi style. But when I try to pull it off, I feel like I look deranged...so I feel your pain! (am willing to bet your hair looks fab though)
