One Night

I went out of town for one night..ONE night. And this is what I found when I got home...

Along with one crying baby, 26 loads of dirty laundry and 75 e-mails.
I screamed, I yelled, my head spun around and then all was back to normal.

This ever happen to you? Is it worth leaving if you have to come back to this?
(If I owe you an e-mail, I am sorry, I am working on it!!)

  1. I feel your pain. When my husband watches the kids, the house seems to implode with dishes and laundry. How is that possible in the 1 hour I'm at the gym?

  2. That is too funny! Thanks for the belly laugh:) YES, it's worth leaving even if you have to deal with the mess! AND, I'd rather deal with that kind of mess than the mess I'm looking at right now...slushy snow removal in the pouring rain:( Always seems to snow when my hubby's traveling.....

  4. you are hilarious. That picture is too scary. I always wonder if the before is worth it- all the arranging for others to do what I always have to do on my own. But it IS worth it. So let's go somewhere.

  5. Yes, it is worth it. You need to get away and regroup... and then you come home to a household disaster. Always. But why is this a universal "mother goes out of town" scenario? It boggles the mind. My very sweet husband would hold down the fort for 24 hours and it would take me 3 days to put things back to normal...and get the tangles out of our girl's hair. Ha.
How about going to the hospital to have a baby... not even fair.

  7. I feel your pain. That's what my house looked like when I came home from the hospital after giving birth the second time. Seriously, who doesn't wipe up two days worth of coffee grounds, bread crumbs and mustard drippings off the counters?

Sorry you came back to such a disaster.

  8. That is the BEST photo. Thanks for the laugh (although, I'm sorry it's at the cost of your home being destroyed!).

  9. Dearest Sissy, I understand that you must take a little creative license in your blog to make it interesting, but the house was not in that bad of shape. Really, I don't think it was any worse when you got home than when you left(except for the upstairs and that wasn't my fault). If you had trained the kids a little better...
    Love, Bill

  11. Dear Bill, you are a brave, sweet man. But are you brave enough to come home and say that to my face? Love Sissy

  12. Argh!!!
I am telling you, the older I get and the more I hear, the more I am SCARED TO DEATH of having kids!!!
It's already bad enough if I'm gone for the day with some friends. I come back and somehow my husband and the dogs have found a way to make a mess. Do you mean to tell me that having kids makes the situation worse???

Maybe I should just laminate my entire house now...

  13. Yes, it is worth it - and then they really appreciate it when you come back and you take care of everything and they realize how much you do!
