I Was So Sad...

When someone broke this serving dish in one of my favorite blue and white patterns. I am not going to mention any names but those are his little toes in the picture.

It was a gift for my anniversary years ago and I just couldn't bear to throw it away. So I did what any sane, rational person would do. I put all the pieces in a bag and stuck it in a closet waiting for the day inspiration would hit me.

Guess what? That day was today!

Can you stand it? Can you see it? Click on the picture to enlarge it. When Linda Lawson (sent to her by her daughter Susan. Style runs in the family) forwarded this to me and told me I needed this skirt my first thought was "Awesome, I do need that skirt!" Then looking more closely I saw it was made of broken china. And not just any china. Blue and white. Can you guess where it is from? Anthropologie. Who else? Do you think Anthropologie would adopt me? Just long enough for some of their creative cool to rub off on me. Check out the full story at Decor8.

I don't have enough broken china to make a skirt, and really, what would I do with a china skirt? But I thought maybe I am on my way to a planter....not that I am wishing for more broken china, but after all I do live with the three little pigs.

  1. I love it! Too bad the skirt is made out of china, though, because I think it's gorgeous!

  2. I've seen mosaic projects done using broken china. China could be incorporated into a small table top or even a back splash. With your one dish you could use it to make a trivet.

  6. I love those pigs. You could pull off that skirt, but not everyone could. It's good looking. I'd go with the planter.

  7. I feel your pain (being the mom to two little boys). Definitely make a something out of those pieces- unless it would make you too sad to see it...

  11. I have some broken china to add to your collection. My four little munchkins helped me with mine too. Together we could probably make a dress!

  13. I, too, have a 'few' broken pieces too beautiful to part with... I am thinking of a mosaic mirror or planter. The skirt from Anthropologie is very cute!
