Eclectic. That word gets thrown around a lot. It means different things to different people. To me, it is a room that is put together over time with several different styles. Nothing too precious or formal.
A fabulous hodgepodge.
But you'd better be careful. Sometimes it can be too much.
And instead of eclectic all I can think about is incense and patchouli oil.
Not always (or ever) a good thing.
Not always (or ever) a good thing.
These were great- and I agree- eclectic can go very wrong very fast. That's why I'm in awe of eclectic rooms that look great- I think it's so much harder to pull off than any other look.
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and green one. But I've always liked the one with the pink bed, too.
ReplyDeleteI like the blue / green one also!
ReplyDeleteI love the first bedroom with all the art around the bed.
ReplyDeleteI love the first and last photos!
ReplyDeleteI like the look of a room that was put together over time. I don't, however, enjoy a room crammed with everything the person has ever picked up. Editing is good.
ReplyDeletei love. it's an unpredictable way to ddecorate your home.
ReplyDeletewhen i think eclectic, i usually think of frasier crane's apartment. it's safe to say i like this rooms much better than his apartment.
ReplyDeleteThat green and blue room completely knocks my socks off!!! I want to throw everything out of my bedroom and create THAT! P.S. I used one of your pix from your blog for my post today (credited of course!)
ReplyDeleteI definitely like it and I think it is totally normal because most people do not have money/time/energy to do everything at once and tastes change and the result is eclectic!
ReplyDeleteI would totally describe my style as eclectic, or a hodgepodge as you used, (I like that word) and I love it! I have many items that were collected over time from my parents and grandparents that I treasure. Traditional to modern I love it all mushed together.
ReplyDeleteLove the first image ... I like my chaos controlled!!!
ReplyDeleteOh I so like. Really like... and a even like the out of control hodgepodge. Should I go to therapy? I can junk up a room so fast. So fast.

I love how these rooms don't feel stiff or formal at all, they all look like a "home". I really like the last image.
ReplyDeleteso fun to find this bedpost today because i've just been spent an hour on a hodgepodge wall in my bedroom - black and gold and silver frames on one wall that i just love so far -- this gave me even more inspiration
ReplyDeleteI LIKE, when it works ITS GOOD.
