A friend asked me to help her come up with some ideas for her daughter's bedroom. Not as a decorator, but as a friend with lots of ideas. And even more opinions.
She knows she wants an upholstered headboard.
And who wouldn't? I think they are fabulous.
But maybe I am biased because I have one.
Now the fun begins. Do they want a simple design?
With a fun fabric?
So many options. So little time.
Decision time.
1. Funky shape, fun fabric?
2. Simple shape, neutral fabric.
3. Or a combination? This gives you the best of both worlds. Bold, solid fabric with a show stopping shape.
What would you pick?

definitely a fun, funky shape- I wish I had the blue one! Now, maybe just a bold color, in case they get tired of the wild print!
ReplyDeleteuse number 2 because then you don't have to worry about coordinating with comforters and bedding
ReplyDeletewow...i adore that first picture!
ReplyDeleteI love upholstered headboards! Especially with a great pattern!
ReplyDeleteI think the last one is my fav. I like the solid fabic, but I also think you could keep the shape and do something a little bold!
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of a funky shape with a "safer" fabric. That way, the bedding can be changed as tasted change and it can be busy or simple.
ReplyDeleteI like 3, go bold!
ReplyDeletefunky and funky!
ReplyDeleteEnnie, meenie, minie, mo. Oh man, I could be happy with any of the fabulous headboards. You could build a room around any one of your great photos.
ReplyDeleteI have an upholstered headboard in natural linen with a bedskirt of the same material. Over the years (and many moves) I have changed the flavor of the room with pillows, artwork, paint.
Too many choices! I'd do interesting shape with a solid fabric so that I could easily switch bedding and pillows for a new look. What can I say, I'm a fickle girl. I always want to try something new.
ReplyDeleteSince it's for a daughter's bedroom I'd say funky shape and fun fabric and then go with simple bedding so the headboard stands out. Looks like a fun project!
ReplyDeleteI love the green and blue one! There are several great choices in that mix!
ReplyDeletehmmmmm, so many choices.............i vote for the funky shape with bold fabric, last one. can't wait to see what you do! have fun
ReplyDeleteI vote for choice number 3. I'm not sure how old your friend's daughter is, but I think she can grow with something fun, but in a solid color. Honestly though, you can't go wrong with any of those images!
ReplyDeleteso many lovelies. I am about to make one, hope it goes well.
ReplyDeleteI would say it depends on her age and if this might be your first headboard. Go funky with the fabric and simple with the shape (an arch) that would be the easiest. You can check out my headboard post if you need some directions. Good luck, it will be great !
ReplyDeleteLove that room by Palmer Weiss. That fabric is so great. Not so great- the price. $200 plus is too much for me. :(
ReplyDeletei got lotsa love for bedroom number 2!! in fact a little drool has pooled in the corner of my mouth.
ReplyDeletedo a post on Bill
ReplyDeleteI Love number 2! Love the colors then the bold statement of the print on the bed!
ReplyDeleteI say do a fun shape!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a combination! The last headboard you showed has been one of my long time faves :)
ReplyDeleteI say give the girl a fun and funky shape. Great picture round up!
ReplyDeletei got lotsa love for bed room number 2!! actually a little spit has combined in the area of my oral cavity.
