Do you have a specific design style, or do you flip flop with the latest trends? I love to add a new trendy item to the mix, but my basic furniture has been the same since I got my first house. Oh sure, I've added to the mess (I mean mix) and I get things recovered, repainted, rebuilt, but the basics are the same. Who can afford to totally reinvent themselves...who would want to? But my actual style...I would say "Traditional With a Twist". I like a little bit of the unexpected to keep things from looking too predictable. I still have trouble with things looking too matchy and sometimes too stiff, but I am working on that. Below are a few of my favorite rooms....do you see a pattern?
O.K. the first five rooms have built-ins...hmmm... I do see a pattern.

The last three have either a soft blue or turquoise color...
Evidently I love bookshelves and blue..big surprise. But that is not a design style. What would you call it? Updated Traditional?

I don't know. I just know I love all these rooms.
Are you interested in finding out what your style is? You can go to Sproost and take a test that will tell you your style. Mine was 50% Cottage Chic, 25% French Eclectic, 25% Nantucket. Sound fun? Just click here.
I love all those rooms! I took that test the other day- mine was similar to yours, but I had something else than Nantucket; now I can't remember!
ReplyDeleteI think you definetly have a distinct taste-don't know what it's called but I can walk thru any store and point out things-that's a Sissy chair, that's a Sissy lamp, etc. Your houses always look great!
ReplyDeleteI took the test and came out 60% classic and
ReplyDelete40% modern. Seems like a contradiction, but it's actually a pretty accurate assessment. Love the rooms!
can we see YOUR rooms now? i'd love to see what you've done!!!
ReplyDeleteRobin:
ReplyDeleteI've shown bits & pieces of some rooms but nothing is completely finished. I'll try to get something wrapped up and picture worthy! Thanks for reading!
I was surprised to find that I scored high on the Hollywood Glam style! Sometimes I wonder if there's a difference between the style you would choose for your living room and the style you would like to see a nice photo of...I love the glam style in photos, but I don't know if I'd like it in my house...
