Who Do You Think You Are

I know this is random, but have you been watching Who Do You
T
hink You Are? on NBC. It is on at 8:00 on Friday nights, but through the magic of T.V. I have the series taped and can watch episodes whenever I want. Because, of course, I am way too busy on Friday nights doing something fabulous and entertaining that may or may not include bathing children, folding laundry and cleaning.

If you haven't seen the show yet, celebrities trace their family history while we come along for the ride. And these aren't C level, Dancing With the Stars celebrities, last year they had Sarah Jessica Parker. History and fashion, it was a good show.

I just finished watching Vanessa Williams and Tim McGraw. Two different episodes, they are not related.

Can't wait to see who is next out of this group.
Have you seen it?

  1. I wanted to watch this but it was up against two other shows that we record on our DVR. Wonder if I can catch it online? Off to check...

    P.S. Thanks for the recommendation!

  3. I saw it once last year, and it was Matthew Broderick. I like him. It was kind of cool.

  4. I have watched the two episodes they have had this year and I caught some of the shows last year.
I know that I will not watch the episodes of those that I do not care for but I have to admit the show gets you thinking about ones own background.

  6. I am hooked on this show! I watched all of the episodes last season. I get just as excited about them finding out about their heritage as if it were my own!

  7. I ve seen all the British ones and the one that I found most interesting was the one about Boris Johnson (Lord mayor of London) who said at the beginning that he'd like to find that he was related to Royalty and guess what? He was !

  10. hmm interesting I haven't heard of this show yet. And for them to have real celebrities on there and not just "realty stars" makes me even more curious about it. I'll have to check it out!

  11. I have watched them this season. I think what's fascinating to me is how there are so many recurring themes throughout their family history. Being teachers, trailblazers, etc. Makes me interested to know my ancestry.

  13. I do watch the show and I am a genealogist, too. It is interesting, but, as the magic of television presents it, they never show the hours of frustration that sometimes accompanies a genealogical search such as this. Looking for records which may or may not exist in burned or flooded counties. Having to find an obscure source for information. Discovering previously unknown people in surprising places. Come to think of it, it is not unlike design!

  14. I have been wanting to see this show and just yesterday I read in my local paper that a good part of the Vanessa Williams piece was filmed right here on a Sunday last October and no one even knew. I have to get that DVR fired up. I would also love - someday in my space time - to trace my own family. Thanks for your sweet comment.
