I posted this picture a while ago. I have been in love with those lamps and on a search for my very own...
I found one on Ebay and, while waiting for it to arrive, I got my West Elm catalog. Hmm..looks similar...same little round head. Maybe they are related. (And no, it is not for sale. Just a prop to drive you crazy)
Then my very own vintage lamp finally arrived in the mail. Isn't he the cutest? He would be perfect, if he were brass,, but don't say anything. I would hate for my new addition to think I discriminate against chrome. I actually believe in equal opportunity for all finishes.
He is visiting in Butterball's room right now, but may be moving to another room over the weekend.
What about you? Chrome or brass?

Love it, and I share the brass love with you, but it's still awesome!

What a great find! (Don't you hate when catalogs use props they don't sell? Drives me crazy...I have even tried to contact the companies to get sources some times.) Brass or Chrome, its all good!
ReplyDeleteThat is a wonderful lamp! And yes, he should not have a complex just because he's chrome. Who knows, by next month brass could be on its way out. The design world is so fickle. Looks adorable in Butterball's room!
ReplyDeleteI like the shape of your lamp it looks really nice...
ReplyDeleteYour post reminded me its time for me to get a new bulb for our bedroom lamp:)
looks great. and the WE is a prop? no fair to do that to us...
ReplyDeleteWhat a fabulous lamp and I love it just the way it is. Great find!
ReplyDeleteI have the same obsession so I've been on the hunt as well.I hate that west Elm does that most of the time I love the prop more than the product!
ReplyDeleteIsn't Ebay fantastic!?! Great, great find!
ReplyDeleteI love them in both finishes, depending on the setting. If you tire of the chrome, there is also spray paint, if you dare. I love both upholstered headboards too. Great job hunting (and gathering) on ebay!
ReplyDeleteI love both. It is a hard one. I am trying to decide what to do in my new store. I am worried that brass will look dated in a few years.
ReplyDeleteIt should be illegal to use props in a photo for a retail store. I say we hurt them somehow.....Love your lamp...brass or chrome.....who cares it's cool. Period.
ReplyDeleteFirst off, I want to say, he's perfect!!! Good buy! Second, I like both... One day I'm chrome... Then next I'm brass. Crazy world I live in. :)

BRASS! How funny, I was just thinking about a brass architect's lamp the other day and fantasizing about owning one. I'm definitely on the look out every antique store I go.
ReplyDeleteI had that very brass lamp in your inspiration photo many years ago; I bought it at a garage sale on Haight Street in SF right after I graduated from college. I got rid of it a few years later, and just in the past few months I keep finding myself remembering all the things that I've gotten rid of over the years that now I would LOVE to have!
ReplyDeleteI love all metals and especially love it when a room mixes metals...creates more of an interesting space. Great find!
ReplyDeleteLove this lamp in chrome. Brushed silver would be nice also.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love the lamp. Wise and timeless choice.

I love the one you bought. I am all about the brass though. Pretty, pretty.
ReplyDeletehe is pretty...
ReplyDeleteWhat a great find! Love it.
ReplyDeletethere are several great looking lamps in the west elm catalog right now that are props and are not for sale. burns my butter.
ReplyDeleteargh - there is this other really cool vintage lamp on west elm that has been driving me crazy too! So unfair of them to do that.
ReplyDeleteThat is the WORST thing about catalogs--and West Elm is the greatest offender. All the best things in there are not for sale. The current COVER has the most amazing lamp, and it is the first thing to draw your eye, but the lamp is, of course, not for sale.
ReplyDeleteLove your lamp, by the way. I would prefer brass, but not sure I would mess with changing the finish!
