Gobbers Seeboot

Do you have a favorite outfit or piece of clothing that you love to wear?

Butterball does. His Gobbers Seaboot.

Translation: Lobster bathing suit.

Yesterday was the start of week 11.

Yes, he has worn the same bathing suit everyday for 11 weeks. Sometimes he even sleeps in it.

He likes it best with no shirt or shoes. Yes, he has a drawer full of cute shorts and tops. He is not interested. At his age Cricket and Clay were dressed in matching smocked outfits. I wouldn't even let them wear the same thing two days in a row. I don't know if I have gotten more laid back, or just tired. School starts for him this week, I am hoping we can persuade him to branch out. Cross your fingers.

Would you let your child wear the same thing for 11 weeks straight?

  2. that is hilarious! He is so adorable and yes, by the time you get to the third child, it's like Whatever! But I do remember the Cricket and Clay wardrobe rules..... glad you loosened up

  4. YES! and I am so glad you do, too. My son once wore his swim trunks with cowboy boots (mis-matched ones, at that) one summer and now I realize memories of that time are some of my favorites. We got a lot of smiles and looks at the grocery store!

    I kinda miss that now...

  5. I have to confess, it was red suede botts with fringe and anything from dresses to leggings for my daughter. Those boots were "lost" several times. The sad fact is that they would not walk, finally they met their demise.

  6. Oh yes! We have our favorite clothing ensembles around here too. Unfortunately, they are never my favorite but long ago I decided it wasn't worth the fight :)

  7. Sometimes it's not worth the battle! My daughter has insisted on wearing her bathing suit everyday all summer and I have just resigned myself to the fact it's not worth the fight!

    Happy Monday! xo Jade

  9. Yes, I would. There will be bigger things to fight and worry about. This? Not worth it!

  10. Adorable. If I could wear the same thing 11 weeks in a row, I probably would. I do have this one skirt I bought at What Comes Around Goes Around in NYC that I've worn maybe 11 million times and I'm sure my husband secretly hates it. It's kelly green w/ blue & white flowers on it. So I totally understand your son.

  11. p.s. One time I was in the grocery store at the crack of dawn when I lived in NYC and saw a mom walk in w/ her toddler in a Superman costume (it was July). She told me she couldn't get him out of it - it's all he ever wanted to wear. So cute! It made my day!

  12. LOL! That is too funny. He is adorable..I would defintely let him wear whatever he wanted.:) I haven't had to let my daughter wear the same thing over and over yet...but she has tried. Usually its her PJ's that she could wear everyday without changing.

  13. My son wore cowboy boots with his baby blanket as a Superman cape every single day when he was 3. He actually wore out the heels on his boots! He's been through about 5 pairs of cowboy boots since then and he just packed them up to go to college! I'd give anything to have him in that Superman cape again!!

  14. They don't have to wear one thing.. but they do like to dress themselves.. Calleigh ( 4.5 ) is actually pretty good, Lauren ( 2 ) she's well... yeah, it's not pretty ;) xx

  16. I did this when I was little. I had these green shorts with sunglasses all over them and I wore them so much my mom threw them away, I balled my eyes out!

  18. I have a piano student who wore a batman costume daily, for 4 months. He started to Episcopal School and clearly the batman interfered with his polo and khakis. I love these stories about kids and their outfit obsessions. Perhaps a prelude into what they'll be like in later years?

  19. KId #1 & 2...no way. They wore matching pajamas, smocked clothing, hair combed or braided...kid #3 - what evah' makes her happy. Shirt on backwards? No problem. Pajamas to Publix? Eh, why not? Diaper and princess t-shirt to bed? Sweet dream baby!

I vote 'tired'. I am too tired.

  20. Let him do it!! Hey, if you find something you like and it's comfortable, wear it! If I were stuck at home and no one would see me, I'd wear the same clothes over and over again. :-)

  21. I loved this story about Butterball! He is adorable! My firstborn didn't care what he wore as long as he couldn't feel the tags and it was comfortable. My daughter, on the other hand, was picky as could be. She had a tutu from her Halloween costume that she wanted to sleep in and wear constantly, the denim boots that were rarely off her feet, and of course, the period of socks with lace cuffs that she wore for several months. Then suddenly that phase was over and she wanted to wear her brother's clothes. I look back at the pictures and they bring back such delightful memories! So glad you are laid back about this!

  24. Hilarious Sissy! My third is a little four year old boy with big blue eyes, and he gets away with everything! I too don't know if I am tired or more laid back or what...can totally relate! But, regardless, the bathing suit is awfully cute, just like your sweet son! :)

  27. Hi -- I really love your sofa fabric (the greenish small pattern). Would you mind divulging what it is?

    Thanks!

  28. My husband and I just got the biggest kick out of this post! Our daughter had these bike shorts, as in stretchy, tight shorts, with fruit on them. They were cute with a little tunic top that went with them, but no, she wanted to wear them with the rattiest T shirts she could dig out of the drawers, every day for weeks!! My husband immediately said "Sound like the fruit shorts Emma wore"! Love your pics and he is a cutie pie.

  30. LOL!! This is so cute.
When we were growing up, my younger sister went through this phase. First, it was a long denim skirt and little red cowboy boots (the shirt didn't matter as long as she had the other 2). Then came the floral sundress. After that, there was a red jumper. She did grow out of it eventually, but even as her big sister, I remember those clothes almost 30 years later!

  31. I agree with the majority, let him do as he pleases. He will likely grow up to be a very strong minded character who will not fuss the little stuff.
    Great post
