I hope the good folks at Ballard read my post from yesterday. Seems like I am not the only one who would jump at the chance to own one of their fabulous mirrors. I also wanted to let you know I did call Ballard's Backroom and the girl I spoke with was so helpful. She checked all three outlets and their regular stores and there were no Atoll mirrors to be had. I'll keep trying.
In the meantime I have a question for you. Would you stick with your search/harassing phone calls and e-mails for the Ballard mirror above?
Go for something totally different like this Vine mirror from Wisteria? Oh, and don't get too excited about this exact mirror because it too has been discontinued. I may have to start another e-mail campaign.
Or hold out for a fabulous vintage sunburst mirror?
Thoughts? Opinions? Favorites?
well, Ima Sucka for an antiqued mirror and the frame on the Ballards one totally does it for me so it's a hit with me. I do love an old sunburst mirror, tho, but it takes time to find just the right size at just the right price...whatever you do HOLD OUT for something that makes you feel fabulous...! keep us posted...
ReplyDeleteNo question - the Atoll mirror! While I love sunburst mirrors, I think the Atoll mirror is a bit more unique and definitely a statement piece.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry- you weren't the only one who called Ballard's backroom in ATL! :)
ReplyDeleteI say stick it out for the Atoll. And let me know if they bring it back... i love it and want one for myself and one for my mom!
I want the Atoll. I already have sunburst mirrors that I love, so I'm not going to go on the hunt for a fab old one. But I forwarded you that email they sent me. It did not seem like they were going to bring it back. Now maybe if EVERYONE out there starts sending in lots of emails, they might...they seem to copy a lot of expensive mirrors. I'm still so mad at myself for letting that one get away. I used to go visit it online on a regular basis.
ReplyDeleteThere are so many great mirrors available I think I'd probably move on. However, if you do, chances are you'll end up finding the Ballard mirror after all. Kind of like the infertile couples you always hear about that get pregnant a month after adopting a baby. LOL!
ReplyDeleteI don't know, I might keep up! If you're a faithful customer, they truly might listen. But in the meantime, I have to say, that sunburst mirror rocks!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear you struck out with Ballard's Back Room (it was a few weeks ago when I saw it so some other lucky gal must have snagged it - drats), but you might luck out and find it on eBay. I'll keep an eye out too.
ReplyDeleteI would say which mirror depends on what space you're trying to fill. Honestly, that Atoll mirror is huge whereas the Vine mirror looks much smaller in scale and more delicate. And most sunburst mirrors don't offer much in the way of a reflective surface, just a big visual punch. I still haven't figured out where to put my sunburst clock turned mirror. I would say look for a sunburst mirror for a good price because it would be easy to move to a different spot once you find the mirror of your dreams.
Oh, and I noticed that West Elm has some neat new mirrors. One is driftwood ("Weathered Wood Mirror): http://www.westelm.com/products/w536/?pkey=cmirrors
and the other is a cross between a sunburst and the organic look (Round Coco Mirror):

Anyway, good luck on your quest. I know it's frustrating, but you'll find the perfect thing!
I'd stick with the campaign to get the one you love...but in the meantime I wouldn't stop looking! I prefer the atoll to the sunburst - it's so unique! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteHold out for the sunburst--its so fab!
ReplyDeleteHowever, the instant someone tells me I can't have something I'm obsessed with finding it. I feel your pain with the atoll. My bet is you will unearth one!
I would try one more place for the atoll mirror: EBAY, and then I would probably move on :(
ReplyDeleteNo bad options but I love the sunburst.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I have an awesome seller for sunbursts, vintage from Peru - so you won't have to hold out for a bargain ;)
ReplyDeleteLOVE the top mirror though. But in my book you can never go wrong with a sunburst!
Oh, that Atoll is so fabulous. It would be hard to give it up!!
ReplyDeleteI would say to keep looking for it... but also keep your eye out for other mirrors that you might find and like just as much! Whichever you find first (the Atoll, or another mirror that makes you equally as happy)- that's the one you go with. But don't just settle, or you'll never be happy!
I'd be out and about trying to find another mirror with a similar shape that I could maybe paint to look like the Atoll mirror!
But why is it that Ballard and Pottery Barn and the like cycle through their accessories and things so quickly - like clothing stores do?? If you see something you like, you'd better go ahead and grab it!
atoll, atoll, atoll!
ReplyDeleteI love sunburst mirrors and I love vintage but I'm not willing to pay 2x the price for a vintage sunburst.
ReplyDeleteConsidering that sunburst mirrors are all the rage in decor, how long do you guys think they will stay in favor? I'd hate to save up for the perfect one and feel like it starts to date my living room.
I say hold out. The best advice I heard about editing your home was only bring home was you absolutely love. Since I have been using this I have loved my home so much more, and I am actually buying (a little) less!
ReplyDeleteI love them all, I think I like the first one the best...but I cannot choose!!!!
ReplyDeleteStick with harassing Ballard! I totally would - loves it!
ReplyDeleteGet the one that will deliver the biggest smile to your face...that's all that matters! Have you looked on Ebay for any Ballard's mirror?
ReplyDeleteAtoll - it's already haunting you and nothing else will do.
ReplyDeletexo xo
I am such a traditionalist I would go for the sunburst, but most important - don't settle! Keep looking until you know it is the one.
ReplyDeleteGet something original! Love Ballard but you don't want your house to look like a billboard for their store.
ReplyDeleteBallard mirror is still, by far, my favorite!
ReplyDeletecreate your own, using Ballard as inspiration... Check out some thrift stores...Anyone, well I know you are having a hard time of it, but most anyone can have a Ballard. lol, but I do love it. Lezlee
ReplyDeletehappy mother's day sissy!!!!
ReplyDeleteevery since you posted this I cant get this dumb mirror out of my head! ha.
