Remember Noah? The guy with the ark? Well, Noah and I have a lot in common. We both love pairs.
Pairs of chairs...
(I hope he doesn't mind that I used his zebras for a pair of pillows)
Pairs of lamps
Pairs of beds.
Two by two...
It just works for me.
As do these pillows. Love that they are the same size and shape but different patterns.

When you have pairs you can get away with a little craziness.
A little craziness can be attractive. Just ask Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise. (Or Brad and Angie)

Isn't this just how you pictured the ark looking?
A little rustic, an old earthenware jar, a bit of greenery...
This pair of mirrors makes me very happy.
What about you? Do you favor symmetry or do you like a more random method of decorating?

you and Noah...you're funny Sissy, esp. the zebra thing. I love these pictures- haven't seen them all! The mirrors are great, those 2 pillows, love it all. I love symmetry, but I like things a little off, too. Can't have things too crazy!
ReplyDeleteI'm not very observant but I did notice you usually have pairs of "stuff"- and Noah would not be happy about his zebras! you are too funny!
ReplyDeletesymmetry, for sure! I am definitely drawn to pairs of things, but have been trying to branch out a little more lately.
ReplyDeleteMarvelous post! I have a pair fetish as well. I even named my son Noah - I only have one of him! I so happy to have stumbled upon your blog.
ReplyDeleteI am a symmetry girl myself. I currently have an asymmetrical arrangement on my fireplace mantle and it's driving me crazy. I need to change it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures...I love the room with the zebra pillows!
ReplyDeleteI love these images - I'm a big fan of symmetry myself! Your zebra comment cracked me up too.
ReplyDeletedefinitely love symmetry. probably a little too much. I read someplace that you shouldn't have more than a certain number of pairs in a room. I think it was four. I could easily exceed that.
ReplyDeleteVery cool examples of symmetry. It makes my heart skip a beat or two.
ReplyDeleteLove these pairs and I do love Noah!
ReplyDeleteah! symmetry is so soothing! that tiny little ocd part of me is happy.
ReplyDeletesymmetry all the way. I love the look of things that are more eclectic (or as I lovingly call it, helter-skelter) but I'm not skilled enough to pull eclectic off and have it look effortless. So symmetry makes me feel safe!
ReplyDeletesymmetry all the way, and in all things. Although, I am drawn to groupings of three as well as groupings of two. But, even as a technical writer, I find this happening. If I have a bulleted list, say, I'll add a bullet point just to even things out and have to come up with something for the final bullet :-). It's definitely a little OCD!
ReplyDeleteCute post!! And I love pairs myself:) xx
ReplyDeletei love those images. the mirrors in the last pic are my fave. and you are 100 percent right. symmetry creates the balance you need to go crazy everywhere else.
ReplyDeleteso so true.
Symmetry...absolutely! It just puts my soul at ease to have things in their places and as hard as I try to get away from symmetry, it always ends up that way!
ReplyDeleteI say symmetry - makes me feel sane!
ReplyDeleteI agree, pairs of anything are great- much better than one of something anyday.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos!!
I love pairs too! Doppelgangers! So great when you can find a matching pair of anything-antique vases, lamps, old mirrors, a pair of slipper chairs! Pairs of anything seem so much more special! Great images!
ReplyDeletei do like the order pairs can bring, but it is usually on a case per case basis for me. there are definitely times when i don't like to match.
ReplyDeleteI love symmetry too. In this crazy world I need some order when I am at home.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures. Everything is better in pairs.
ReplyDeleteI'm completely stuck on symmetry as well! Great post! :)
ReplyDeleteI'm totally with you. I love things in pairs! Great images. I have to say the first and the last are my favorite!
ReplyDeleteI like both. I have a pair of twin boys and one girl! lol.
ReplyDeletepve
I love pairs of bed, but I'm not sure how I feel about the strange robot on the table in between!
ReplyDeleteLoving that rustic console table!
ReplyDeleteGreat post! Love the mirrored chest on the "two lamps" pic. Love the lamps too!
ReplyDeleteI love the symmetry of it. These pictures are just fantastic. I love them all.
ReplyDeleteI love pairs too. Noah and the zebras made me laugh.
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth--- but I do like pairs of a lot of things. Loved this post.... and couldn't pick a favorite image because I liked them all!
