Getting Closer

Can you believe I haven't picked the fabric for the roman shades in my kitchen? Maybe I shouldn't be too hard on myself, it's only been a year and a half since the renovation. right now I am waiting for a sample of this fine fabric...

I love that is has blue and green...two of my favorite colors. And that little bit of gray will look great with the gray veining in my counter tops.

Kitchen window last night.
As you can see I have some old fabric samples clipped on a tension rod so I can close them and have a little privacy at night.
Folks, it's time to make a decision!!

Calling All 6's

I've been looking for the perfect riding boot for ages.

Last week I did find the best pair of boots ever on Ebay. These were change your life, make your shoe dreams come true boots. So I did what any good shopper would do...I bid on them. And won. The excitement, the joy....I couldn't believe my good fortune. Until they arrived. While even more perfect in person they were sadly too small. I tried to make them work but I really do need my toes.

They are the real deal vintage Frye boots.
Perfectly broken in.

The boots say size 7 but are really more like a size 6 or 6 1/2.
10 1/2 inches from toe to heel.

So, so good!!

I Need Some Color

Thankfully the sun came out yesterday,

glassware

And with it my better attitude.

Rainy, gray skies makes me a grumpy girl.
So I gathered some bright, colorful images to perk me up.

A More Glamorous Life

While reading blogs and looking at Instagram do you ever think "Their life is way more glamorous than mine!!"

They look glamorous driving boats...

And the parties look effortless and entertaining.
But you know what I've decided?
People don't have a better life, they just have a better camera.
Guess what I need? Yep, a better camera.
I am considering three cameras I recently saw in The Wall Street Journal. Check them out and let me know what you think: SonySony and Nikon
Thoughts, suggestions?

There are so many great sales going on right now and it is the perfect time to stock up on some classics. A lot of the pieces can take you from summer to fall.

Who doesn't need a chambray shirt?

Little White Dress

WHITE_5

Saw this dress on Grace of Stripes and Sequins and knew I had to have it. White gauze with tassels...perfect! Expensive? Nope!

Women's Crinkle-Gauze Drop-Waist Dresses

I was going to get a picture of myself in the dress but it just didn't happen..yet!
But I like the dress so much I ordered another one (when they had a 30% off sale) and I am going to dye it black!!!
Won't that be so cute in the fall with boots and a jean jacket? Hey, it could work! I've dyed clothes before. I'll take notes and pictures and let you know how it goes...wish me luck!

Have a great weekend!

Insta-Life

I am working on getting my Instagram up and running.
I joined this week (I told you there were big changes coming)
and I am following people but have yet to post.
Still got some details to work out...
Some things in life just seem to scream Instagram to me -

Like these matches I found at the grocery store.
How happy do they make you?
Who wants to play with fire now?
(Sisters, if you are reading, look away because these may be in your stockings)

And this...
Just a fun Sunday afternoon where all three of my children were getting along for a split second of family fun!!

Are you on Instagram?

P.S. Thank you for all the e-mails and info concerning my blog redesign.
I hope to get cracking on a bigger, better Blue Hydrangea!

And there are about to be some big changes around here at Blue Hydrangea.
I am totally updating this old blog of mine and giving it new life.
Have you worked with a great design person/team to update your blog?
Got any words of wisdom?
Have you made the leap from Blogger to Wordpress?
Would love to hear from you.

I Found the Before...

I know I showed you this bookshelf redo last week but over the weekend I found the before!!
A before and after is a lot better when you have the before picture...

Before
Not bad...except maybe for the dust buster on the bottom shelf...

 After
What I love about this is that we used what Stuart already had. We did not buy one new thing.

We did some editing and moving around...

Packed some glasses away and brought artwork in from another room...

And added all the fixings to make a bar.
It's all about using what you've got!! (If you've got great stuff, otherwise I may have to do a little bit of shopping :)
Holler if you need some help!

All American Dinner

Last Friday Cricket decided to make a 4th of July dinner for the whole family.
I have to say Bill and I had our doubts. After all she just turned 14 and only enters the kitchen to get snacks and dessert.
But you know the whole parenting thing where you are supposed to encourage everything you kid wants to do and never crush their creativity no matter how messy it may be? That's not us. But someone else making dinner sounded good so we said go for it.
And boy were we impressed!!!

Red, White and Blue Deviled Eggs

 Star Shaped Watermelon

American Flag Pizza

And for the finale, 4th of July Rice Krispie Treats

Red white and blue drink - The drink with the highest sugar content stays on the bottom - Use red fruit punch, blue Gatorade, and diet 7-up/Sprite

She also made a Red, White and Blue drink but I didn't get a good picture before we started slurping them down.
All in all it was a huge success and I am thinking I might be able to push some of my dinner duties off on her.
Didn't she do a good job??

You can find the recipes here...under Yummy
