One of my favorite people recently had a birthday and I wanted to get her something fun and a little bit different. Anyone who knows me knows I like bracelets. Especially silver and always in multiples.
So when I came across this Longitude - Latitude Bracelet I knew it would be perfect!!
A little hard to see but it has the coordinates of her beach house at Topsail.
An example from Tatum's Etsy store
I also think it would make a great gift for a grad - you could use the coordinates of their high school, hometown or college.
Or maybe an anniversary gift with the location of the church or your honeymoon destination...there are endless possibilities.
Doesn't that description sound perfect? Like me and my new Birkenstocks would fit right in? I was so excited until I tried to make a reservation - guess what? You can't book a normal room for a family of five. They say it is a fire code violation, but I checked into that. It is NOT a fire code violation. There is one penthouse available for a hefty cost and is not available the dates we need. So I asked about connecting rooms, not an option. What about two rooms? Yes, I can book two rooms but they will not guarantee them to be side by side or even on the same floor. And it is not only the Hotel Indigo, we run into this problem all the time! We are not the Duggers. I don't need a room for 19 kids, just a normal family of five. And I want a nice hotel where someone will fix me oatmeal and crispy bacon for breakfast and make my bed while I am out rafting.
Looks like we will be heading to Homewood Suites...
There are lamps, chairs, plates, an ink blotter, a Mexican change purse and God knows what else scattered from one end of my house to another.
I will try to get my act and attitude together before Friday.
Please try to stop by and see what else I have drug out of my attic. If you need a summer project I will have several DIY's that I didn't finish. And if my stuff doesn't excite you there will be two other sellers there with lots of loot.
My readers are the best!! I got so many e-mails from y'all and all it took was some ugly shoes!! I even got a text from a friend showing me her lime green Birkenstocks. Several of you thought that were hideous but most of you said once you wear them you will love them.
Here's how this whole subject came up: Since summer is approaching I have encouraged my fanny to head north, about two inches higher on my leg, where it used to sit. I am doing my part, walking every day, lunges, squats, etc. The good news is that when I look in the mirror and hold my leg at a certain angle I think I can see an improvement. The bad news is that since I have started all this exercise my feet hurt, my ankles hurt and my knees hurt. My daily wearing of flip flops does not help the problem. So begins the search for comfortable shoes while I whip myself into shape.
Does it help if they are in silver?
What about this style? Any better? Oh come on, they're kinda cute. Sort of like a modified Dr. Scholl's.
There are several stores in town that specialize in "comfort shoes". I may put on my support hose and go check them out.
I decided I needed cute gift tags for their presents because we all know how important cute gift tags are to 14 year olds.
The problem was I didn't realize their birthday would not be complete without special gift tags until late the night before the big day. I am most creative in a panic. Give me lots of time and money and I've got nothing. Last minute on a shoestring? I'm your girl.
The twins were born before iphones and digital cameras, which means I have boxes and boxes of actual photographs. Poor Locke, his life has been digitally documented, but there are no actual photographs of him. Guess he will have store bought gift tags.
I dug out one of the boxes, flipped through a few hundred pictures....
Grabbed my hole punch and was done!!
Easy and cute!!
It's important to remember how cute they were now that they are teenagers!!
I was having so much fun I made some decorations for their mini cakes.
I could eat them up!!
So there you go, easy and cheap/free gift tags.
I still have 996 pictures I can get crafty with...any ideas?
(Warning: Your children won't be near as impressed as you are with yourself)
