A Holiday to Remember

Are you ready? I am. While I was busy wrapping presents yesterday, Butterball was busy...

Wrapping himself.
At one point he lost his tape....

I helped him find it.
Did you notice his big boy pants? We have spent Christmas break potty training. Definitely a Christmas to remember.

Merry Christmas!!!
(Yes, I am still trying for that perfect picture!)

Christmas Cards

I am still trying to get the perfect picture for my Christmas card.

We have had several picture taking sessions. This is how several of them ended up.

Believe it or not this is one of the best shots.
How do you feel about a St. Patrick's Day card?

Holiday Warning

There are a lot of hidden dangers during the holidays. I was the victim of one and wanted to pass along this warning to you. If you see these little silver and red guys during the holidays do NOT eat them. Yes, they look sweet and innocent but they are deadly. Deadly addictive. I don't even particularly care for sugar and almost never eat sweets. (I'm a salt alcoholic and get really cranky when I have sugar)

I bought a bag of the Hershey Candy Cane Kisses purely for decoration. Friday night I decided to try one: smooth, creamy white chocolate with tiny bits of candy cane sprinkled in. I decided to have one more. An entire handful later I knew I was in for a bad sugar trip. It was worth it but I have learned my lesson. Has anyone else tried these? Did you find them unusually yummy?

My New Living Room

I know by now you have all probably seen the new issue of Lonny , but I just had to post this picture.

This living room in Eileen Kathryn Boyd's home has the same layout as the living room in my dream house. I am saving it for inspiration since the home recently came on the market. I am busy saving all my pennies. The good news? I only need $999,950 more dollars. If you want to make a donation, e-mail me.

And if you haven't seen the new Lonny, you are in for a treat! Here.

Appliance Chic

I am trying a new look in my breakfast nook: Appliance Chic.

When this fad catches on remember you saw it here first. The redecorating was spurred on by my horrible laundry room floor. I painted it white 4 years ago when we moved in and the paint has always attracted dirt. I have lived with it for as long as I can and when I saw this....

I knew it was time to take action.

FYI: 2 weeks before Christmas is not the best time to repaint your laundry room floor as it requires you to move everything out.

And it is much harder to use your washer and dryer when they are not plugged in. Lots of bags of dirty laundry are piling up. Maybe I should put them under the tree!

What do you think about Appliance Chic? If a washer and dryer in the breakfast nook is too much of a commitment for you why not start with a toaster in the den?

You've Got to Start somewhere...

Every year I give my children a Christmas tree ornament that symbolizes something about the past year....sports they played, a favorite food, animal etc. It has become one of my favorite traditions. I started this tradition way back in 2009. I know, lame. I meant to buy an ornament every year since they wore born, but I just got a late start. A really late start. Well, NOW it is a tradition!!

I was also a little late giving them out since I stuck them high up in my closet and forgot about them. Friday night before we went to get the tree I dug them out and wrapped them up.
(Did you notice the cafeteria style plates? Somebody-Clay-doesn't like for his food to touch. He gets that from his father)

Cricket got a soccer ball.

Clay got a pirate flag.
And three guesses as to what Butterball got...

Yep, a lobster. This is definitely the year of the gobbers.
Do you have a fun family tradition that gets you in the holiday spirit?

The Zhush wants to help...

You stuff your stockings.
My friend Sue, at The Zhush, has started an online store that is full of great gift ideas.
Notecubes $12.95

String of Luck Bracelet $12.50

Fireplace matches $8.95

Good, right? Sue has all kinds of fun gift ideas and stocking stuffers. Be sure to check it out here.

Now I need to find a way to turn my blog into a little business...ideas? Thoughts?

(That's me in an outfit from the '60's. I'm the one in the hat & the polka dot pants, my sister Susan looks mad. Maybe she wanted the hat.)

If you were out shopping on Black Friday or sleeping off your Thanksgiving dinner and missed my guest post at Belly Button, be sure to check it out here. Chedva has a great series called "Outfit With a Past" and since my traffic was way down last Friday (due to sleeping, traveling, shopping??) I didn't want all of you to miss out on a great blog!!

Have a great weekend. Let's compare Christmas decorating notes on Monday!!

It is starting to...

Feel a little bit like Christmas...

I started decorating for Christmas...

I hung two wreaths and put out a pillow. Then I lost steam. Looking forward to more decorating this weekend. You don't want to rush into it all at once, you know?

Have you started decorating?

From Russia With Love

So, while over at All The Pretty Birds I came across this photo...

I know! The hippest pregnant woman ever!

Worth another look, don't you think?

Then I had to find out who this style queen was....

I may be the last to know Miroslava Duma.

Russia's "It Girl".

Yes, she's Russian. Who knew?

Am I the last to know about this pint sized fashion star?

P.S. Do those first two photos make you want to get pregnant again? Oh, me either.

All the Pretty Birds

Do you ever stumble across a blog and just get sucked in?

You scroll through post after post with the hours just ticking away.

That's what happened to me when I found All the Pretty Birds.

I couldn't stop gawking.
My style has been slipping lately.

I spent 2 hours at Anthropologie over Thanksgiving and couldn't find one thing to buy.

Even scarier? I did find something at Ann Taylor Loft yesterday. Either Ann Taylor Loft has gotten a lot hipper or I need an intervention.

Bittersweet Happy Thansgiving..

Thanks to Slim Jims, Cheetos and Dramamine we survived the car ride to Atlanta. We had a great visit with lots of family and friends.

Bill, Cricket and I got up early Thanksgiving morning to run in the Atlanta Half Marathon and 5K. We weren't quite up for the 1/2, so we ran the 5K.

But it wasn't just any 5K, we ran in honor of Bill's nephew, Miller Nuesse, who died unexpectedly on September 20. (click on his name to read a great article that ran in The Atlanta Journal and Constitution)

It was such a special day and I was thrilled Cricket decided to run with us. By "us" I mean me. Bill left us in the dust and Cricket would have left me, but I threatened to cut off her candy supply if she did.

Miller was a special boy to all of us and we will miss him. Yes, I know he was 21 years old, but to me he will always be that sweet 8 year old boy.

Hope your Thanksgiving was a happy one!!

Visiting Outfits from the Past..

Hope everyone had a fabulous Thanksgiving! Today I am visiting Chedva at Belly Button. She has a great series called "Outfit With a Past".

Typically, my outfit with a past involves denim. I've been loving denim for a long, long time!
Be sure to check it out here.

Gobble, Gobble

I spent Sunday making a big batch of these...

I got the idea from here, and then modified it a little to make my life easier.

My little turkey friends got me in the mood for Thanksgiving. Yes, Thanksgiving. NOT Christmas.

I don't mean to sound like a downer but does it bug anyone else that the radio stations have been playing Christmas music almost full time for the past two weeks??!! It is driving me crazy. Isn't there some law of decency that says you should have to wait until after Thanksgiving before you break out the Christmas tunes? What ever happened to waiting your turn? If I was Thanksgiving I would be mad!!

The Right Bank

I'm visiting Ally From the right Bank today and blogging about a favorite trend. Here's a little hint.

Stop by and check it out. Here

P.S. I am off to Atlanta today. 7 hours in the car with 3 children who get car sick.
This Thanksgiving I am thankful for Dramamine.
(And my wonderful readers, of course!!)

I Heart Kandy

Dear Kandy,
(Kate + Andy = Kandy)
I figure that's what the paparazzi would call them if they lived in L.A. It's cute isn't it? And perfect for a design star couple.
And I know I posted this yesterday, but I love it so much I am just going to re- post it again this morning!

Your apartment rocks!! I call this the "Whatever" style of design. It doesn't look planned or uptight. It's like they said "We like it, let's buy it. We'll find a place for it". I bet Kate has never thought "Will this match?" No, I am sure she says "Whatever! I love it, I'll make it work." And she does.

Kate and Andy, if you ever decide to have a yard sale, call me first!!
And if you have too much artwork and not enough wall space, I will be glad to hang some for you. Just to keep it safe, you know.
Want to see more? Check out The Selby.
