Bewitched

Halloween got me thinking about ghosts, goblins and witches and my favorite witch was/is Samantha Stevens from Bewitched. If you're going to be a witch, might as well be good looking, right? I don't really care for all that wart stuff.

And that theme song..love it. It just makes me want to twitch my nose. Want to hear it? Click here. Guess what? It is going to be stuck in your head all day.

I didn't really remember the house so I decided to look it up. Pretty cute huh?
I do love me some awnings...

Did you ever understand her attraction to Darren?

Look! Peacock blue on the chairs!!! So hip!!! Don't believe me? Check out this post.

Does that avocado refrigerator bring back any childhood memories? I think ours might have been harvest gold..

Wish I could see a close up of the coffee mugs...they look like they might work in my kitchen.

I don't remember ever seeing the nursery, but it's a cute one with the pink and green toile.

Here Samantha is painting a horse on Tabitha's crib...who knew she was crafty? If I were her, I would just twitch my nose and get it done right..and quick.

If you want to see more of my favorite witch and her house, check out Hooked on Houses. There are more pictures and lots of fun trivia.

Hope you have a wonderful Halloween!!!!
See you in November. (November, can you believe it?)

Who Knew - Nate Berkus

I saw a great picture of a room Nate Berkus decorated on La Dolce Vita.

The really interesting part? The apartment he decorated was for his sister, Marni Golden.

Nate has a sister? Who knew? Did you know? I felt like I knew him. Really knew him. After all our time together on Oprah and reading his book cover to cover and never once did he mention a sister.

I guess I won't hold it against him. There are plenty of things about myself I never told him. (Of course I would have had he taken the time to ask)

And of course looking at his sister's fabulous studio apartment really helps heal the hurts feelings.

I can see touches of Nate, but this apartment definitely has a more feminine look.

I Was So Sad...

When someone broke this serving dish in one of my favorite blue and white patterns. I am not going to mention any names but those are his little toes in the picture.

It was a gift for my anniversary years ago and I just couldn't bear to throw it away. So I did what any sane, rational person would do. I put all the pieces in a bag and stuck it in a closet waiting for the day inspiration would hit me.

Guess what? That day was today!

Can you stand it? Can you see it? Click on the picture to enlarge it. When Linda Lawson (sent to her by her daughter Susan. Style runs in the family) forwarded this to me and told me I needed this skirt my first thought was "Awesome, I do need that skirt!" Then looking more closely I saw it was made of broken china. And not just any china. Blue and white. Can you guess where it is from? Anthropologie. Who else? Do you think Anthropologie would adopt me? Just long enough for some of their creative cool to rub off on me. Check out the full story at Decor8.

I don't have enough broken china to make a skirt, and really, what would I do with a china skirt? But I thought maybe I am on my way to a planter....not that I am wishing for more broken china, but after all I do live with the three little pigs.

Todd Romano - Where's Waldo for adults

While looking at Jentrified, Jen West's must read blog, I stumbled across Todd Romano. Just had to check out his site and it does not disappoint.

Love this room and what is it that I spy on the top right shelf? "I Married Adventure", my old friend. Really, it's like "Where's Waldo" for design loving adults.

My book finally came!! So exciting. (From this post) I did have to e-mail the Goodwill of Northwest Ohio to find out what the hold up was.

Seems they had a bit of unexpected publicity and were swamped.

So I am curious. Did y'all go check out the site?

See anything you like?

Bid on anything?

I am sure the publicity wasn't from my post but I did learn a lesson....

Wait until the goods are in your hands before you blab.

If you haven't checked out the Goodwill site you can see it here. And I hope while you have been reading you have also been looking at the fabulous rooms by Todd Romano. His site here.

Don't forget to let me know if you checked out the Goodwill website!

I'm In Love...

With a pillow. Now before you call me crazy, or worse, take a look at Mr. Right.

I had the fabric cut for 2 weeks but have been too busy to make the pillows. I finally got it done last night. I am happy. This pillow and his identical twin brother will be for sale at the Blue Hydrangea Barn Sale today and tomorrow. The best part?

They have a little brother! The cost? Still working on that. But really, can you put a price on happiness?

Eclectic Bedrooms

Eclectic. That word gets thrown around a lot. It means different things to different people. To me, it is a room that is put together over time with several different styles. Nothing too precious or formal.

A fabulous hodgepodge.

A collection of found objects and treasures.

But you'd better be careful. Sometimes it can be too much.

And instead of eclectic all I can think about is incense and patchouli oil.
Not always (or ever) a good thing.

And sometimes people try to cram too much of a good thing into one room.

But when it is done right there is nothing better.

I like. You like?

Blue Hydrangea Barn Sale

After the recent success of the clothing consignment sale, a few friends and I decided to have a home furnishing and accessories sale. The Blue Hydrangea Barn Sale just sounds better. It will be this Thursday and Friday, October 22 & 23. If you live in Wilmington and would like more info e-mail me: siskotte@ec.rr.com.

Just a few of the items we will have for sale.

If you need some vintage glassware with gold accents and...

and love the look of vintage paint by numbers....

You may be interested in ....

This.
There are two paintings and six glasses for sale.
They just wouldn't all fit in the picture.

Love this bedding?

How about a pillow made out of this fabulous fabric?

Dogs, paisley, gold mirror, blue ginger jar....

Yep, got you covered.

Maybe you're more the pink type...

With a little zigzag thrown in.

Got that too. Zigzag pillow available in pink, yellow or black. Vintage quilt, hand-sewn, lamp has a mate.

Maybe you like feathers and...

Blue glasses. Who wouldn't like blue glasses?

Here you go. Don't they look just like the ones from the Lonny picture above? Maybe they will be for sale....maybe I need to keep them...

I have been a busy bee getting ready and I hope to see a lot of you on Thursday or Friday. Don't feel like shopping? Stop by for a visit and a glass of wine.
I want to say a big "Thank you!" to City Chic Country Mouse. I featured their fabulous ironing board covers a few weeks ago and fell in love with the zigzag fabric. I wanted to use some in Doodle's room so I e-mailed them and they were kind enough to share their source. I love the fabric so much I ordered extra and made some pillows for the sale. If you haven't already checked out their site you can see it here.

I'm Thinking About..

Getting some Ikea bookshelves. Just thinking at this stage.

I think about doing a lot of things.

Like organizing my closet.

Or packing away the kids summer clothes.

Or eating more vegetables.

Usually it doesn't pass the thinking phase.

But you never know. These Ikea bookshelves have inspired me. Maybe I will take some action. It would help if the nearest Ikea weren't 4 hours away.
